Popular Post Foxfold Posted July 10, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted July 10, 2020 Well, I've had my new saw now for two weeks and I've used it every day almost. What I'm quite childishly happy with is that the 'insert' is still like new !!! That means that all the lessons about 'offering the wood to the blade' - 'let the blade cut the wood' - 'don't push' - 'relax and breathe', that all you good people have given me since I joined almost 2yrs ago must have actually sunk in !!! Just wanted to say a Huge Thank You to all of you. wombatie, poupster2, jollyred and 7 others 9 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted July 11, 2020 Report Posted July 11, 2020 It is interesting to look at many of the scroll saws that are pictured over the internet and see how chewed up that insert gets. I really don't get it. If the blade is set correctly and tensioned correctly, there is no reason for it to get eaten away. At least yours is replaceable. Quote

Must admit Ray, I thought they were all replaceable no matter which saw. Just goes to show how much I know. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I have two EX's and neither are replaceable but I don't worry about it because I don't ding them up. Quote
Charlie E Posted July 12, 2020 Report Posted July 12, 2020 I admit I chew mine up a bit occasionally. I think it has to do with cutting thicker hardwood and being impatient. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Jim McDonald Posted July 13, 2020 Report Posted July 13, 2020 I have in nick in the throat of Dewalt from doing steep bevel cuts and not being patient. And it is not replaceable, just a hole in the table. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
