WigWag Workshop
Currently it's in the garage, which is why I have not been able to work on any projects, way to cold out there. On a positive note, we are in the process of purchasing a new house, which has a nice basement for my workshop. It will also be my model railroad. We have the home inspection today, if all goes well we should be moved in by the end of May.

pecohen
Mine is in a small room with the furnace in our otherwise finished basement. For sanding and other operations I go to the garage or outside, but it sure gets cold out there in the winter.
Lucky2
I use two different saws which are identical, so it depends where I am at the time I want to saw. I have one in my woodworking shop which is used mostly in the warmer seasons. And the other one is in the workshop area of our basement, both the workshop and the house are air conditioned, so no matter where I want to cut I can be comfortable. But I will say this most of my scrollsaw work is done in the basement, just because, for me that's where I first started scrolling and it just seems to be to much bother to move everything. And congrats on the A/C. With the temps we get nowadays everybody needs them to survive. Len
Frank Pellow
My Scroll Saw (an Excalibur EX 30) is in the basement in what used to b e my woodworking shop. When I retired 12 years ago, I built a stand-alone woodworking shed in by back garden and left the old room in the basement for storage. A year or so ago, I moved my scroll saw back to a corner of that room. That, in turn, freed up some space in my overcrowded shed.Since the scroll saw does not make nearly as much noise or dust as my other power tools, my wife does not object to having it back in the house. oldhudson
My shop is in the lower level of a split entry house (formerly a bedroom). I can't get sheet goods into the house so I always cut them (with a track saw) in the garage. I will do assembly in the garage too if I think I won't be able to get the project around the corners and up the stairs. That entertainment unit I built this fall was in that category and bookshelves are often too tall for the lower basement ceilings. I have forced air heat and permanently sealed both the incoming and return vents for HVAC. I also vacuum the shop floor at the end of every day nearly to minimize dust getting out. Rob
Mine is in the garage which also houses the laundry. My wife loves it when she gets something out of the washing machine and drops it in a fresh pile of sawdust! Rob Gonzo

scrollerpete
I made myself a room in the basement for my hobby shop, got 2 dust filters on when I'm using the saw.
heppnerguy
Congrats on the AC. I keep my scroll saw in my wood stove heated 16 X 16 insulated shop. so nice and warm during the winter, even if it is 20 degrees or colder outside, but no AC. I will be looking for a used AC unit for this summer as the heat drove me into the house last summer. I have a second shop with my other saws, sanders and planer are that is 1/2 a walled doubled garage. I have to share that second shop area with my wife as she keeps the freezer in it to. Don't you all feel sorry for me ? I knew you people were all heart and such caring people. Maybe some prayers are in order that my wife decides to move the freezer to her side of the garage..Let's hope Dick heppnerguy
CharleyL
My last shop was in the basement of my former house, and sawdust in the house was a constant problem. When We moved here I did without a shop for 2 years and then built my own shop building across the driveway from the house and all of my woodworking is done out there (unless remodeling the house). My sawdust in the house problem is solved. I blow myself off before coming back to the house and it all stays out there. Having a separate building provides many benefits and I wouldn't even think of moving one of my scroll saws into the house, even if she told me that I could. jbrowning
Mine is in the garage, but my nice sister is going to put up a 16'x20' insulated storage shed with a porch for me this April-May time frame. I'm thinking she is just wanting to be able to get her car into the garage again. Jim
