Popular Post Badgerboy
I spent some time this week cutting this fret box from the summer 2018 issue of SSW mag. Nice pattern although I was sweating a few bullets on some of the stems. Well either that our the fact that it is almost a 100 F outside with no cooling in my shop. Still trying to make a decision on how to finish it including using the marbling technique for the top they suggested in the article. munzieb
Great looking box and pattern. I can understand being a little nervous on the stems. What kind of wood are you using and how thick? Finish depends on the type of wood. Depending on the size, the 9mm stop hinges may be the way to go. I posted some info on how to use them. Lowes 2 sided tape is the way to go for positioning them. You definitely got the veining down!

dgman
Great looking box Todd, you did a great job on it! It kills me too see that hose clamp on that brand new saw. Removing the first section of the hose is easy to do!
RabidAlien
Nicely done! Thin cuts, like your stems, certainly show you how aligned your blade is!

Todd, you got this. Poplar = Paint. Black Gloss Lacquer? Time to move up to some better wood like Bubinga or Padauk. Shellac sealer and Clear /gloss or semi gloss lacquer will make it Pop! amazingkevin
