rustynail Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 I am making one of these for my daughter’s birthday (she loves her cat) and was just wondering from everyone’s experience what is generally the best/most used background color for these kinds of plaques. The face/cut out wood is going to be birch ply in a natural clear finish. Thanks Richard John B 1 Quote
NC Scroller Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 I use a flat black a lot since it goes with most color schemes. I have used other colors like blue for water or when a customer requests something different. The color on the picture look like good to me. Nice and bright. John B 1 Quote
Norm Fengstad Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 I like the blue, I use black background but have been experimenting with other colors . Quote
trackman Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 I most of the time use black. Maybe you can come close to the color of her cat to make more personal. Quote
Denny Knappen Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 I also use black, but on occasion used blue or green. Quote
oldhudson Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 I'd use my daughters favorite color. Quote
rustynail Posted August 4, 2020 Author Report Posted August 4, 2020 Thanks for the comments on colors are most of you using flat colors, satin, or a high gloss? I would think a gloss would be a bit much… Quote

John B Posted August 5, 2020 Report Posted August 5, 2020 I use flat black, fix my cutting to it then a couple of coats of gloss or semi gloss over the whole thing. I have also used coloured felt which makes a nice smooth background. Quote
