Finishing Hot Plate

Hi all,

Please bear with me if I already asked this question. Memory started to slow down for me.

What finish is best for a hot plate made from 3/4 red oak?

I would appreciate your experience.

I don't use any, if it's going to be used.If not then a good coat of clearcoat.

I wipe mine with food grade Mineral Oil.

I also use mineral oil. I don’t want anything to mess up my expensive pots!

On all my trivets I used 2 to 3 coats of Tung oil and so far no complaints.

I use mineral oil, if it is good babies bottom (baby oil) then it is good for pot bottoms.   Carl
