I am in total agreement with the majority about not using a 3/0 blade while cutting a single thickness of 1/8 inch bb ply! Also the opening of the hole in the table top is another consideration as to the tear out. Than again as has been stated, it could be a poor quality of bb ply. Search the web or depending where your home is, look up various blade sellers for smaller size, 2/0, 1/0 and work with those. Also you have stated you have not tried stack cutting, this is very easy to do and for a sample cutting just take a couple of small pieces of 1/8 inch bb put some 2 sided tape on 2 sides, press together put a pattern on as you usually do, drill the necessary  holes, feed the blade through, select the speed you are comfortable with and start cutting.  This works great for cutting ornaments and if you do craft shows, a great way to cut the one pattern and have multiple  item to sell or as gifts if not into craft shows.

Brenda, if you want to stick with Niqua and buy in the UK then try Original Marquetry, http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/category_Fret_Saw_Blades_1.htm they have a wide range but postage could be expensive.

Ok, thanks. I get mine from Hegner too but they don't have any      WAIT ..   Apparently they now use the name Pebeco/Niqua,  as apparently, do Original Marquetry.  Well don't you just learn something new every day.  So I've ordered a gross from Hegner.

Brenda, yes Niqua give their blade types names, such as Pebeco are standard non reverse teeth, Speed are reverse tooth  blades  etc.  I now mainly use the Speed blades unless I'm cutting something that doesn't warrant the reverse cut, ie. compound cutting, or metal and plastics.

you sure that is Baltic birch not just birch plywood ,,, were did you buy that at hope not a box store ... you need to find a cabinet shop or similar place it usually come in 5 foot by 5 foot sheets  ... birch plywood will do that.... never had the russian baltic birch do that

Mmm it was advertised as BB. but to be fair it was also sold as BB Laserply.  I liked the idea of a 'different' less toxic glue.

never heard of laser ply .. but no matter what wood you use it all come with a warning on the saw dust is harmful to your health ...  so you will figure out just like i did in the beginning what is good and what is not for fret work ... good luck and scroll on ..

That is some bad tear out.. all the above suggestions are great.. but I have simply coated the back side of bad bb with some tongue oil and it helped me through the cut.
