stevan Posted August 27, 2020 Report Posted August 27, 2020 (edited) Can I use padauk to make napkin holders? I’m using Steve’s Goods halloweennapkin.pdf pattern and I’m worried the wood may be too irritating from the stories I’ve read about it. We won’t be eating it but the napkins will be in contact with the wood and then they would be in contact with lips and face. As always, thanks in advance. scrollerpete Posted August 27, 2020 Report Posted August 27, 2020 You can used either Tung oil or spay Shellac and it will be fine to use. OCtoolguy and amazingkevin 2 Quote
dgman Posted August 27, 2020 Report Posted August 27, 2020 (edited) Even if you didn’t seal it, it would be fine to use. The toxicity is from the dust created from cutting. It should be sealed though. I have used it in cutting boards without any ill effects. Edited August 28, 2020 by dgman amazingkevin and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
