simply beautiful and my vote is for the green glass... where did you get the pattern?   I would love to cut that pattern for myself.  you see I had a small red eared slider turtle for almost a year but had to give him away because it was just getting to hard for us to change his water every 2 weeks and knowing that he would get much bigger we felt it was best for him to live with a younger family.  a friend of mine knew a teacher at the eleamentay school here in town...who was looking for a pet for her class room and she has other turtles at home so I let him go live with the teacher...during the school year he lives at the school and during the summer she takes him home. I miss him SO MUCH!!! I named him Mr spock…. id love to scroll this with his name under it...it would nt be having him back but in a way I think it  will help me  miss him just a little less. I had some orange glass like the green glass you have at the top...I used it to do my first inlay piece....a dragon of course...it dosnt look great but I had no idea what I was doing and hadn't at that time found a book explaining how to do inlay work.  i'll take a picture of it soon and put it up....but be forwarned its not nearly as good as yours! could you tell me where to get the pattern?  I have an idea for a project I want to make....a small aquiram with a compound cut red eared turtle in it and  a few fish... I used to have fish when I was younger …… I have an old aquram but I think its to big, not so much for me but to big for spike....although im trying to find an out of the way place I can put it so I can make my aquream for my vertical mr spock and some fish.... im to the point now where im thinging i'll have to get a small bowl or aquram from Walmart or meyjers before I can make my vertral aquram… I have a compound cut of a turtle but its a land turtle and im trying to figure out how to turn it into a water turtle....and rats!! now this post is really long!!  iv been trying not to come here to much and leaving really long posts and to keep my posts just about scrolling.... sorry. I will do better!!! just wanted you to know why I want to cut out that pattern if I can get it. He looks just like my mr spock

First of all, I enjoyed reading your long post.  And, thanks for the compliment.

I purchased the pattern for $8.00(US) from Charles Hand.  Here is a link to his web site:   https://scrollsawart4u.weebly.com/my-patterns-1.html

Charles' patterns are among the best that I have ever cut.  I've cut four and plan to cut more.

I wish you every success with your project.

The pattern was designed by Charles Hand.

I cut this out of a 1/4 inch Mahogany panel purchased from Heritage Wood.  It was cut using Flying Dutchman #3/0 spiral blades and Pégas #2/0 spiral blades.

The piece has 312 holes according to Charles and it to me approximately 20 hours to cut.

I intend to frame Old Loggerhead with a glass background similar to those I’m experimenting with in the two photos below:

Unfortunately, none of the suitable glass that I have on hand is large enough.  This is further complicated that the main shop where I used to obtain glass has gone out of business.

Awesome!!!

I hope that when you get around to cutting the pattern, you enjoy doing so as much as I did.

I found suitable glass:

What with my main glass supplier closing , I was worried that I might not find glass that I liked.

I need not have worried, Donna Pickering of Seraphim Glass Works in Pickering Ontario found me glass that is perfect for the piece.

Here is a photo:

Now, to frame it ...

Thanks Irene, I'm getting quite fond of it too.  But, I made it as a gift, so I won't have it vey long.

It will be placed in a window.  When I frame it, I will attach a chain that will allow Isla (my granddaughter) to hang it from the top of a window-frame.  Here is a photo of a piece that I did not give away and that hangs from the frame in one of our kitchen windows:

Wow what a marvelous project. and the idea of a glass backer board is sure perfect for this one. Very well cut.

She is one lucky granddaughter. I’m tempted to use your idea and cut the turtle.
