spirithorse Posted September 23, 2020 Report Posted September 23, 2020 Two Charles Dearing patterns I have cut recently. I colorized one and kind of regret doing so now. You be the judge. The deer are just on a leather seat for the pic and the wolves are on a blue blanket. I don't know how I plan to frame them yet. The deer pattern is about 9" x 11" and the wolves are about 10 1/2" x 14 3/4". Cut with my go to #5 Ultra Reverse blades. I haven't practiced with spirals enough to be comfortable with them. Thanks for viewing and comments welcome. God Bless! Spirithorse jollyred, new2woodwrk, RabidAlien and 4 others 7 Quote

Tomanydogs Posted September 23, 2020 Report Posted September 23, 2020 Very nice cuttings. I’ll be honest. I do like the coloured one because it’s different, it just doesn’t seem like you finished colouring. I would do the ears and neck too, and a little bit more contrast so the two deer don’t blend into each other. spirithorse 1 Quote

Once to master the spirals it becomes second nature to you.the trick is move half as fast cutting and a tight blade. You can do it. Now talk me into being able to bend notes on the harmonica. I played 65 years and still can only bend on note#6??? Edited September 23, 2020 by amazingkevin Woodrush 1 Quote

I just may have to re-think that and make some changes to see if I can sell it. I truly appreciate the input! God Bless! Spirithorse Quote

I thought it was just the raw BB ply. I know you’ll come up with a solution that you’re happy with. Quote

Also, since the pattern was not really as true to life as I would have liked, I will probably delineate between the Buck and Doe with a darker shade or wood burn or something. Thanks and God Bless!
