Popular Post flarud
While waiting for another project to dry earlier I decided to make the wife another cutout for her LED base. Some may remember that I made her a butterfly last week for the base. I made a ghost this time, after all Halloween is just around the corner. I found a pattern for a Scarecrow that I may cut also. I used 1/8" acrylic sandwiched between 2 pieces of 1/8" BB. This way you get the decoration for the LED base and 2 more to hang on the wall or window,, I just cut the rectangle bottom off of the wooden ghosts and made them come to a point. I used my go to blade, Olson #2 reverse. I actually had to go around the whole cut twice because it "fused" back together this time. It only took seconds to go around it the second time. On the butterfly I think I used a FD UR1 and didn't have that problem. I have 2 different blades made for acrylic but didn't use them. These are very simple and easy cuts that you can find patterns for that you can display all year around. jbrowning, meflick, Dave Monk and 10 others

Rockytime
What a wonderful idea. I like it. Where do you get the led base? Should have a lot of applications.

scrollerpete
I got some plexiglass and I had to cut it 4 times before it let go, now I put the pattern in the freezer and will try it again tomorrow amazingkevin
scrollerpete
That did not work, but after try and error I came up with: wrap the plexiglass and the 1/8 backer in blue tape and I used the # 1 Pegas Mdg skip tooth and that worked fine. You,ve given me an option to try my 1/2 clear plastic to see how that works and I,LL even try a tea light battery powered with colored cellophane as a tiny inside the box . Wish me luck!! Yours looks great!!!

Yes, I forgot to mention that I use blue tape. Acrylic or whatever material you have, sandwiched with 1/8" BB, then wrap the whole thing with tape and apply the pattern. I know others don't use tape, some use shelf paper, some don't use anything. Whatever works. I have 2 different Olson blades that says that they can be used for acrylic, but the last couple times that I cut it I have used a FD UR1 which worked great, next time I use an Olson #2 reverse and had to go around the pattern twice because it fused back together after I cut it. merlin
Well all I use is tape (blue green red pink with purple spots) on one side of the plexiglass/acrylic or whatever it's called and start cutting. Never had any problem, just don't go like a bull at a gate slow is best.... Merlin... meflick
