Travis
Howdy all. We've been doing these scroll saw challenges since 2017. I think they're a lot of fun and I love seeing what you guys come up with. But, I gotta be honest, I'm running out of good ideas. But, since you're a clever bunch, I'd like to get some ideas from y'alls. What would make some fun scroll saw challenges? Post as many as you can here. Hopefully I can get a pool if ideas that will last me a few more years. Thanks for your help! WayneMahler, meflick and OCtoolguy 2
ChelCass
The first thing that popped into my head was Thanksgiving. We have tons of Christmas, Easter, Valentines Day, Halloween etc. but Thanksgiving seems to fall by the wayside. Not just pumpkins and Turkeys but pilgrims, scenes with pilgrims, Harvesting scenes, Scarecrows, children dressed up for Halloween. Gnomes are big right now as are pickup trucks (especially Red ones) with pumpkins or trees or dogs in the back. Big foot is also popular not many designs of him. Lots of silhouettes of him but that is pretty much all. OCtoolguy, Travis and Kris Martinson

teachnlearn
I think classic art is not copyrighted, so scroll work of a classic art master could be a complex or simple project depending on the work selected. We have been looking for a house since January,. They have either been way over priced or damaged to the point of unlivable. If someone has scroll saw plans on a full size house I can work on that challenge. Gee...might as well list some of the other groups.......Insects, bacteria, virus...2020 is big for a specific virus, just wants you to cut it out and hang it on a wall. Don't worry about the other wall hangings, just cut wooden masks for them. RabidAlien
A quick rummage around Google Calendar for obscure holidays or "National ____ Day/Week/Month" may trigger some ideas. I'm a big fan of SciFi/Fantasy/military history (yes...one can like fiction AND nonfiction), there's tons of categories there. Sports? Plenty of sports options (I would guess....my braincell has limited memory capacity and is generally full of SciFi/Fantasy/military history to the point where my knowledge of sports extends to jogging and the shape of various balls used in various sports). Or do a "mashups", where two different genres combine, such as Ronald Regan riding a velociraptor or R2D2 dressed up as a Dalek. ETA: Ooooooo...do a "backlighting" one! A project designed to be lit from behind, whether by a candle, LED light, window, etc. Edited October 2, 2020 by RabidAlien OCtoolguy and Travis

Gonzo
I like the two ideas of boxes/bowls and backlit projects. Another idea would be games that we make using our scroll saws
Fedido
Just a could of ideas that I had would be musicians. I like the idea of different animals per month as well. You could do something like flying vehicles, road vehicles, or one month, just have a "anything go's" month. Travis
