oldhudson Posted October 18, 2020 Report Posted October 18, 2020 It was 29° F here today (about 2° C), a bit below average for mid October here. And it's Sunday, always my laundry day. And just like leaves in the yard, in the laundry room there is another sign that the seasons are changing. The jeans, long sleeve shirts, sweat shirts and vest all take up way more space in the washer/dryer than shorts, tank tops, T shirts etc. I can always tell the time of year from the size of the laundry. I think next week I'll change the oil in the lawn mower, clean it and put it away for the season - and I guess I get out the snow blower and see if I can start it. jblock9907 Posted October 19, 2020 Report Posted October 19, 2020 Here in Southern California our seasons begin a little differently. It is over 100 degrees (summertime) during the day, go to bed, wake up ,it is 40 degrees (fall/winter) . The temp is now around 75 (Feb or March) Spring with the rain, then summer again. I grew up[ in Pennsylvania and I miss the changing seasons, the cool/cold mornings and evenings, picking walnuts, harvesting whats left of the garden. Quote
spirithorse Posted October 19, 2020 Report Posted October 19, 2020 @oldhudson I was thinking about what I have to do to get ready for the winter. I do not like the cold and am not looking forward to the winter at all! LOL @jblock9907 The cool/cold mornings are part of the up-coming season that I really do not like! LOL I could sure use some of those 75 degree days right now! God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
jerry1939 Posted October 19, 2020 Report Posted October 19, 2020 Before retiring, I spent 14 years selling Real Estate in Iowa. No all that uncommon to hear a few people say, "We're not going to spend another winter in Iowa". So they would move to States like Florida, Arizona, etc, etc. Within 5 years, they moved back. Missed the beauty of the changing of the seasons and had enough of the hurricanes, heat, bugs etc. jerry amazingkevin and oldhudson 2 Quote
Gonzo Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 (edited) Yo! Oldhudson! I think we here in MN skipped Fall and went right into Winter. Wouldn't you agree? 5" of snow, and 20 degrees below normal. Yep! Winters here Edited October 21, 2020 by Gonzo Quote
barb.j.enders Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 We seem to have skipped fall here in Manitoba as well - snow on the ground this morning Pulled the winter coat out yesterday for the walk to work. Guess it will be the boots today! Quote

But I'm still hoping we get a week or ten days with temps in the 50's so I can clear the last of the leaves. But it kinda looks like they'll be there until April or May. But at least it's not cold Quote

Nope, it's still in the shed, now I'll have to shovel a path from the shed to the drive. But I did stop and bought a couple of gallons of fresh gas. Quote
