new2woodwrk
At HD the lowest price I've ever seen on the Delta Scroll Saw - $299! https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-1-3-Amp-20-in-Scroll-Saw-Variable-Speed-40-694/205112184 I may have to buy another at that price! amazingkevin and OCtoolguy
Iguanadon
I have a used saw on hand as an emergency backup. Definitely consider buying a used one or this one on sale so you can do a quick swap out if you plan on doing events on a regular basis. Nothing is worse than being in full production mode and having a breakdown. OCtoolguy, amazingkevin and new2woodwrk
Rockytime
Having two saws is handy. When I need to interrupt a project for some reason I just move to the second saws without disturbing the first saw. amazingkevin, OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk 2
Woodmaster1
Great saw at that price. Not much difference between it and Dewalt, basically the same with minor changes.. new2woodwrk, OCtoolguy and amazingkevin

I liked it bettre than the dewalt, but it is under warentee I called thej they told me where to take it ,50 miles away. That was july 9 2020. almost 4 months I called the repair shop and thy said that they have called them 3or 4 times and the parts are on back order.I called friday and delta said that they were nding th parts to the repair shop. hotshot
$300 is pretty cheap, but I echo the sentiment on the parts. The Delta part I ordered took 6 months or more to come in. I don't understand what is up with that. Still probably a better deal than other low end saws in the 200 price range, it's one of those calculated risks. amazingkevin, new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy 2

They use to be a great brand and then they decided that profit was more important than the quality of their product, It's a real shame! Woodmaster1
I have a Delta Unisaw, drill press, scroll saw, 13" planer and have had no issues with any of them. I have had the Tablesaw 7 years used heavily, drill press 7 years, 13" planer 6 years and scroll saw 3years. I am either lucky or got well made machines. I wouldn't trade my Unisaw for any other tablesaw on the market. I taught woodworking for forty years and used powermatic and sawstop tablesaws they can't match my 5hp Unisaw. All well and good, the problem comes about when you need parts and they more or less tell you just buy another one. Speaking of longevity, I am still using my Craftsman 10" table saw that I bought new in the 1950's and there are still a lot of parts still out there for this saw. Not all parts mind you but some, I'm 85 yrs old so its doesn't matter too much for me any longer, LOL! I still use it almost every day and so far so good, Edited October 19, 2020 by Karl S WayneMahler and OCtoolguy 1

I was seriously considering the Dewalt but the $500 price tag was just a bit over the top for me I've had both DeWalt and Delta saws. Virtually the same saw except the stands are different due to different footprints. But can be modified to accommodate. I've gone to Delta now because of the price and warranty. As previously noted, if you are in production mode you will need a spare as warranty repairs take a long time. And I just found out that SEYCO sells replacement blade holder knob tips for both! Cheaper than replacing the entire knob. bb new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy

jerry1939
I retired from scrolling & we gave the 40-694 to a son. Never needed repairs. But if a Delta needs repairs, I'd bet the rent that everything (with the possible exception of the motor) could be replaced with Dewalt parts, or by a Dewalt Service Center. jerry

When I went from 1 dozen el cheap-o saws and then to a Dewalt my love for this saw grew immensly from the start. new2woodwrk
