Scroll Saw

I'd buy another Hawk.. This time I'd go with the BM-220 since I already just purchased a BM-226 a couple years ago.. That said, someday I would like to try a Hegner.. hear a lot about them.. seen a few and had a chance to get a nice barely used 14" for $40 at a estate sale.. I should have got it.. but I was being my stubborn self and said I didn't need it because at the time I had three Hawks a EX. Dewalt and a Delta, LOL.. still have them all except the DeWalt..

Now that I have the newest Hawk dialed in and did some upgrades to my oldest Hawk.. Ultra has always works great for me.. but I rebuilt that EX- have about 25 hours on since the rebuild.. really don't even use it.. Been thinking I need to send it to someone that would use it..

Well, if money was no object, the first thing I'd do is buy a house with a real shop. Then I'd load it up with all the best woodworking tools. Once all that was done, I'd buy one each of all the best scroll saws just to have them . I'd like to have another Hegner. I liked the one I had with the exception of the motor/soft start issue. I love my EX21. I haven't had the EX16 long enough to really try it out but so far so good. I'm sort of glad the money is an issue though. I think if it was too easy to buy stuff, I'd never appreciate having anything. This way, I cherish everything I have.

I have been a strong advocate for Hawk since purchasing my G4-26 back in 2005. It top feeds easily as the upper arm is spring loaded when you release the bottom blade clamp, that gives you a huge amount of room for feeding the blade. The same goes for bottom feeding lots of room. As with any saw that all takes practice. The front back stroke is adjustable to almost perfectly vertical.  I have not heard anything from or about Hawk in some time, Kevin are you still in touch with them.?

That said I would add a Pegas to that collection. Mainly for that fact that the table stays level and the blade moves for bevel cuts.

I currently have a well tuned 16inch EX with Pegas clamps. So In my opinion I have the best scrolling capability for my scrolling needs.

I haven't been in touch with them for quite a long time now, but I haven't really tried. Reading on FB groups etc.. it seems as if they've improved customer service greatly... but I can't vouch on that for sure. as I'm just going off of reading other peoples postings.. I hope they really have. They make a great saw.. made in the USA is a bonus too. for me anyway.

I am leaning towards the excell 21 I have oly had it a shorttime but it is nive to run. My first swaw was a Dremmel with a 4 inch pined blade it held up real well it was rlunning food after 5 years but swa out dated. then came a sears it lasted 20 years and needed major repairs the 2 Dewalts 788 why ee I don't know they only lasted about 3 years I then got a Delta which is stillin the shop after 4 months iused it 18 months and it quit.d at the craftmans used and It wasnn't bluilt like my first craftman so I really dond't know. I use a saw 25-30 hours a week in the summer months and when ever possible in the winter.

I love my king Excelsior. But I would trade it for a seyco because I like the table better

Well, now you can buy the larger table for your King. Also, you might call Ray at Seyco and see what the possibility might be for adapting a Seyco table to your saw.

Pegas sells a table upgrade that will bolt right up to your saw provided you have the 21" model.. The table is the same size as the Seyco but it has no vacuum fitting or holes.. and it is coated with a tough epoxy coating.. both slick surface and very durable..
