Popular Post OzarkSawdust
I cut this President Trump portrait last week and made a frame for it. I've already got one sold and another interested person. H. Botas did the pattern, I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch ply with #3 & #1 Pegas blades and finished with spray Lacquer. Then mounted it in a frame I made from 1 x 2 White Pine painted black with a black mat board backer. Get out and vote! We did today and beat the lines smitty0312, Brianr24, Dave Monk and 8 others 10

OzarkSawdust
We voted yesterday. Mid-afternoon at county courthouse in a small town...only ones there. A older couple (estimate 80s +) came in as we were finishing. Much better than standing in a longline in the cold!! Frank Pellow
I very much prefer the Trump item that I cut a couple of years ago: Just in case you think that this violates our rules here, I believe that it does not because Travis told me that a similar sentiment that I presented him with, namely 'Vote Trudeau Out' was OK. I find that extremely insulting as a United States Veteran (as are many on here). Regardless what we think of whoever is in office at any given time...he is the President of the United States and Commander In Chief. I thought we were better than that on this forum to have that kind of a political bias and sarcasm. I simply showed a piece I had cut from a very respectable Australian pattern designer, H. Botas, and reminded folks to vote, as our elections are next week. I did not ask for a political opinion from someone in another country. I thought the 2nd posting was in very back handed. Great job on pattern by Heldas. He sure does some nice patterns JFYI, It is compulsory to vote if you are over 18 and an Australian Citizen in Oz. You get a stiff fine if you do not. This is for all State and Federal Elections. May the best man win mate. Edited November 2, 2020 by John B to add a little. But I'm "picking off the easy ones" for now...LOL. I'm working on his new Sean Connery "James Bond" pattern now. And I need to make a frame for the Stevie Ray Vaughn portrait I did a week or so ago. I had never heard about the voting thing in OZ. Not a bad idea though. John B
flarud
I have my opinion on this, but I'll keep it to myself. But I would like to say this...that when George W. Bush was elected, I had never seen the type of disrespect for a sitting President as I did with him.. and it got worse with each President since and I am going to assume that it will just get worse with each one from here on out. I'm not saying which party I lean towards but I have shown respect for the "other" parties President since I have been old enough to know better. I have read two autobiographies from 2 Presidents, they both mentioned the same thing.. they don't have the power that most people think they have. It's not 1 man's fault nor should 1 man get all of the praise for things that happen. We as a nation must show respect, not just for the parties, but for each other, in everyday life. How often do you see someone pull out in front of someone on the road? 9 out of 10 times that going to lead to one of them giving the "International Sign". I've pulled out in front of people before, not on purpose, but because I didn't see them or thought I had more time,, I always give a "I'm sorry" type of wave. How many times do you see someone not use a turn signal? That's being disrespectful right there, not to mention dangerous. If you pulled out in front of someone with the buggy at a grocery store, I'm pretty sure that you would apologize to that person and not give them the finger. It's when we get behind the wheel of a car or in front of a keyboard that we become badasses and disrespectful. I hope in my next life I'm placed in Mayberry! LOL Ok, off my soapbox. I hope that I didn't break the rules of the site for saying my peace. I tried to stay non political or show disrespect so I think I'm alright with this. courtym74, new2woodwrk, lawson56 and 4 others

I completely agree. I would hazard a guess as to the cause of 80%, or more, of the problems in this country, and others, boil down to two words...NO RESPECT. I would guess that you and I are around the same age, as we both understand this. I learned it at an early age...I still remember the sound of Dad's belt being pulled through his beltloops LOL...but I learned...eventually Younger generations have been let run wild, and we are seeing the results. You are exactly right, behind the wheel or a keyboard people show no respect. As long as they are not held accountable and there is no consequence there is no reason to change, their parents have been lazy and never taught them lessons of life. It gets worse with each generation. Although I haven't watched every news video of all the looting and rioting I have seen a bunch in the recent months. And I don't remember seeing a bunch of 65+ seniors trashing WalMart and running out with shopping carts of TVs ...or even Depends LMAO OK...I'm out of here... At the risk of hijacking this thread (which may or may not have already happened ) I think that Gary hit on something in his last comment above that needs a little more fleshing out...so I'll give it a shot. According to your comment that I quoted, Gary, I'm becoming more convinced that a generation that never learned the "lessons of life" themselves cannot teach those to its subsequent generation. IOW, if this is true, then the generation that raised today's parents bear a lot of responsibility for spoiling their kids and keeping them from learning the "lessons of life," which stopped the passing on of those lessons. Or, I could be totally wrong here. But I don't think so. ben2008, OzarkSawdust, RabidAlien and 1 other
