Joey
Hi, My Dewalt s/s is knocking from setting 6 through the end #8. I've adjusted the rod item# 24 counterclockwise twice ( 2 full turns). The knocking is still there. What else should I be looking for? Facing the saw, I turned the rod to the left, am I correct? Thank you, Joey
shutterbug
had mine enough time for 6 projects and it developed a knock. Took it to a dewalt service center and they tried to fix (still bad when I picked up) and Dewalt ended up send me a new replacement DW788 for it. had the option of full refund or replacement, took 6 days to get. Vector01
Normally adjusting the tension rod will only affect the tension settings. Check Rick's site for other options. http://scrollsaws.com/

Joey
Hi , Checked out Rick's site. Got some good Ideas. When I opened my saw I did not see any thing out of the ordinary. I did notice on the circuit board there are 2 pots. I called Dewalt and was told that the pots were set by the company who made the board and Dewalt had no further info on them. Has anyone tried to adjust these pots? Or know just what their function is? thank you, Joey
amazingkevin
Hi joey,my dw788 was knocking louder and louder, and the problem was the nut came off the connecting rod conneted to the motor.it's behind the rod so you have to feel behind it .i put it back on and it''s never been so quiet, ever.don't know if this is the same problem as yours. WolfmoonCT
My problem lately is every time I stop the saw, when i try to lift the arm, it does not go up all the way. I always need to tap the foot pedal to make the head move a tad, then the arm lifts up the rest of the way.
bobbatt
Mine was also knocking but three turns on the tension rod took care of it. I did a lot of research on the problem. If adjusting the tension rod didn't take care of it and the nut on the conn rod was tight check for some play or slop in the bearing on the conn rod. The conn rod is in the back of the saw. I ordered one anyway because it's only a little over $21.00 and something told me to get it and have it on hand.
