Why not just change the color on the pattern?

BTW There is not a red toner cartridge.

I think there is a misunderstanding.. he has a red pattern I believe.. but a laser printer that is black and white.. and wanting to get ink so he could print it a brighter red type color.. At least that is what I got from the topic

Explanation: I want to print a pattern from my computer and have it come out red. Also copy a B&W pattern and have it come out red. Dan came up with a workable plan. I looked at You Tube and it appears reloading with red is simple. I may go that way.

I was also curious on this Rocky and saw you can refill cartridges and just substitute Red.  My concern is unless I can dedicate that printer to just patterns what happens when I slide a black cartridge  in, do I get colored smudges.  May need to experiment.

I viewed a couple of You Tube videos. Since I am deaf I don't heat the audio and just get to view. BadBob sid he had not heard of red toner so I don't know if it is even available. It did appear very simple to add black toner though. My thought was to buy a red toner cartridge and then just refill it if the red cartridge would fit my printer, hoping the cartridges were the same. I just thought I would avoid going to Office Depot to get my patterns printed in red. I might be barking up a hollow tree!

A quick search for magenta (red) toner for brother's printers. I'm not sure if it is compatible but may be worth a try. Some cartridges have a code on them and if you install a magenta cartridge where a black one should go you could get an error. That's why I suggest just replacing the color of the toner in the black cartridge. Even if there is a little black still in the cartridge, just add the red, give it a shake and you should see mostly red.

Red toner (magenta) is available on ebay. I think I can empty my black toner and replace it with red. If I want to print in black I have a very nice HP ink jet printer. I just have to convince myself to waste the black toner. I'm not cheap, just frugal.

Whatever you decide to do, it sure sounds like a very messy job to me and could turn into a real fiasco. Best of luck my Friend.

Just post a ad online to trade a full black toner for a empty one or two..  That might sound a bit suspicious to someone but who knows you might be able to grab a couple of empty ones for a full one so you can experiment.. Get good enough at it you might be able to run a photo though several times with the different toners and print a color photo.. just print with the magenta and then swap to yellow and run the print again, swap to cyan run it through again etc etc.. 😂 😂

It'll be interesting to know if you'll be able to do this.. I'd like a laser printer but like you.. I'd like to be able to print patterns in red.. Inhave a color inkjet printer now but if I only use it for color things.. The ink would be dry by the time I need color.. other than the red patterns, LOL and I print enough patterns a year that it would defeat the purpose of having the laser printer.. I just need a color laser printer..
