tbphotos Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I actually completed this project several weeks ago, but finally got around to taking a photo of it. Cut from 3/4" Purpleheart. I've just left the wood in its natural state, no lacquer or varnish. Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Very nice cutting. Thanks for sharing it with us. DW Quote
wombatie Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Fantastic. It suits the colour of the wood. Well done Marg Quote
Xray Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 You ought to consider a satin or dull clear coat. Not only does it bring out the colors and grain, but affords a measure of protection to the wood. I rarely ever use any stain on exotics, but always give them a clear coat. Of course, to each their own, so long as you're happy. Quote
toolbeltman Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Very nice cut Trevor ... I agree with Xray...that you should give it a splash of oil to bring out the grain and help protect the wood....but to each their own....thanks for showing us. Quote
tbphotos Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 Yep, I'm going to take your advice guys and dip it in my oil. Thanks.. not a bad idea. Trevor Quote

Oges Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Looks great Trevor, I think a coat for PurpleHeart also helps so it doesnt lose its colour Quote
