LarryEA Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 Contact Your Insurance Company who will provide you with this information! Also your local Fire Department can tell you. Who is on your case about this? Do you have a warehouse? Are you scheduled for an inspection? Quote
teachnlearn Posted January 2, 2021 Report Posted January 2, 2021 I think you will find the material and how combustible it is materiel of the building and how full of stuff will be the factors. Several years ago we lived in government housing. The building had fire sprinklers coming out of the walls. We had some of the heavy duty resin shelves and the management didn't like it. They tried to say our shelves violated fire codes by not being 8 inches below the sprinkler heads. In fact I'm 6' 2 inch and my son is taller. We violated the height rule standing up. I researched the fire codes and could only find materials must be below fire sprinkler heads for warehouses, not residential. Had to fight with the state attorney general and they finally left us alone. A lot of the enforcement is done by the fire marshal, and city code. Once you let a fire marshal walk in it going to be their call on hazards. They sent one over for our place and he said our side table by the door had to go since we couldn't get out the door. Being in a wheel chair, I rolled right past it and he still insisted it blocked and was a fire hazard. Had to move the table. Finally left the place from the over bearing management. amazingkevin Posted January 3, 2021 Author Report Posted January 3, 2021 Well I filled the dumpster with as much skinny wood as it would take..I hated to do it as those were my picture frame woods. I'm disabled and 5 25' walks carrying a arm full of wood did me in. I,m trying to make the front presentable and the back half for storage. There's an aisle front to back , a door on both ends and a fire extinguisher right outside the door.i can,t make it look like a store where everything has it,s place and easy access. This is my home too but you would never know it as my sleeping quarters is on a shelf and clothes are hidden.i have 15 tools all plugged into a cuircut breaker strip and only one tool at a time is used. It looks very overloaded but it,s convenient for me. Quote
Roberta Moreton Posted January 3, 2021 Report Posted January 3, 2021 Possibly add a curtain or divider to separate your storage from the front to be more presentable? amazingkevin 1 Quote

Gordon 121 Posted January 4, 2021 Report Posted January 4, 2021 Kevin common sense has to be prevail here am not being nasty in anyway but seriously get a grip, put your heath and safety first without your health you have nothing if its a fire hazard REMOVE IT, everyone of us have them wee bits of wood we keep thinking 'oh i could use that one day' get a friend in someone who will be honest tell you the truth about what to get rid of, someone looking from an outside opinion will always see thing differently. But fire regulations are there for a reason consider if there was a fire can you get out fast, what chemicals are you storing, who else would a fire in your place affect, are your smoke alarms working in the right places, as mentioned if you have sprinklers DON'T have anything near them or they are useless can't spray if they are blocked, all these things are there for a reason take heed it could save your life, ok rant over, and sort out your plugs it might be convient for you but doesn't mean its safe to do mate, i have dealt with fire regulations for 12 years you don't get a second chance with fire, it might be hard throwing away some wood away but if you have a fire you have NOTHING so lose some before you have none keep that in mind at all times and stay safe mate Gordon barb.j.enders, amazingkevin and danny 3 Quote
