oldfa_t
At one time Micro-Mark or Proxxon offered a hobby sized vacuum. Is there any chance that someone has one stashed away, or knows someone that might have one?? My mind has little to do but come up with ideas that I feel would be useful. If so, please message me, I am very interested in purchasing... Dan
If you are not partial to Micro-Mark or Proxxon, DeWalt has a 2 gallon wet/dry vac that would fit under the scroll saw nicely, that is if your saw is on a stand. I don't really know any more about it but Lowe's sells it. Rockytime, OCtoolguy and oldfa_t

kmmcrafts
Take a look at MetroVac 500. It's the same thing as the one Seyco uses with their dust collection set up.. I have the Seyco set up but I also built a set-up of my own using a Metro vac that I picked up off eBay as a "new open box unit" I figured for $35 shipped it was worth trying. I also bought a mini cyclone dust separator similar to what Seycos system is but about half or less the size.. Seyco system https://www.seyco.com/dv-10a-cyclonic-action-scroll-saw-dust-collector/ Metro vac Ebay search. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313&_nkw=metrovac+500&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=metrovac oldfa_t, OCtoolguy and Rockytime
WayneMahler
Shop vacs are great except for the noise level. Something with less noise and about the same size as what Kevin mentioned about would be a used Dirt Devil vac. Just some food for thought. oldfa_t, OCtoolguy and Rockytime
OCtoolguy
I just bought an Oreck carry-around vac w/attachments on eBay for $35. They are small and have very good suction. I'm going to try to muffle it in some way. @Rockytime is doing the same thing. Lots of experimenting going on. I think between us we'll come up with an acceptable system. Les, did the Oreck hose connect directly to the mini cyclone or did you have to "adapt" it down? If so, what did you use? oldfa_t

If so, what did you use? The hose that came with the vacuum was not original to the vacuum. It was just a short hose that fit the vacuum. The end to the cyclone is just a 1 inch PVC coupler used to join 2 ends together. One end fit the hose perfectly. The other end of the coupler needed to be filed down just a bit to fit into the cyclone. OCtoolguy and oldfa_t 1

IKE Shop-vac news: Shop Vac owner revealed zNewsletter Sunday Dec 30, 2020 The popular Shop Vac brand of vacuums has been purchased by GreatStar Tools USA, giving new life to the global manufacturer headquartered in Williamsport. GreatStar announced Monday it will take ownership of Shop Vac assets, re-open the Williamsport plant and rehire employees who lost their jobs when the factory let go most of its 430-plus work force in mid-September after a failed sale of the company by its private owners, the Miller family now living on the West Coast. GreatStar’s bid to buy Shop Vac was settled on Christmas Eve but the identity of the buyer had not been released until Monday. GreatStar is part of Hangzhou GreatStar Industrial Co. Ltd., a hand tool manufacturer in Asia, specializing in designing and manufacturing products for DIY, professional and industrial markets globally. TAIrving
Has anyone tried Miele vacuums? They are pricey new but some used ones are available on eBay. I wonder how they might compare to the Orecks.
preprius
I use meile in my house. It has great suction and does great on hardwood floors. The bags are expensive. The noise is much lower than other vacuums we had. If you use this, I would do a dust cyclone canister between saw and vacuum. Save alot of cost on bags. My wife would not let me use this in garage. So I have shop vacs. Me. Mark E.
