GoatHammer
Hello I have been rearranging my shop for several different reasons However I just started feeling cramped and having no real follow. In my task of organizing I did not realize I had the amount of blades that I have. Although you can never have too many blades. So I can up with this idea in the picture so that I would know what I had and start acquiring the other blades that I wanted/ or needed. I built a cabinet with having a special drawer dedicated for my blade`s. Ken Lotts, OCtoolguy, WayneMahler and 5 others 7
preprius
i like your better than mine. I cheesed out and didnt want to order tubes. I just got drinking straws. stapled bottom. Taped the labels that came on packages on the straws and used magnets to stick them on the metal stand. OCtoolguy

Rolf
I like the cabinet idea. I use the Baby soda bottles for my blade storage. I want a clear tube so that I can see how many blades I have left. And these tubes are bullet proof. OCtoolguy and Jim McDonald 1
kmmcrafts
I use the provided holder that’s built into the saws base. I have the accessory tray on my new Hawk saw that has spots for holders too. I only keep the most popular used blades at the saws like this but I also have a plastic 12 ( I think) tube storage holder I purchased years ago from woodcraft or somewhere, too long ago so I don’t remember. Seen a ad in the magazine and ordered it. Lol OCtoolguy and DHeaton

Zoot Fenster
Those acrylic tubes also work well to store different color dyes. I label them as "yellow - x drops in 15 ml (?)" so I can recreate the dye color as needed. I do not remember the actual volume. Doesn't really matter. I create a pile of sawdust from different types of wood.. sometimes with I need to use a wood filler so to speak.. I'll take a small amount of whatever wood sawdust and mix it with a small amount of glue to fill in a small void or crack.. I've been known to drill too deep a couple times with my forestner bit for a clock insert.. I have filled the hole on the back side with this mixture a time or two.. it isn't even noticed unless it is a large hole then I don't do that .. I'm glad I have it, as it does a wonderful job keeping my floor and lap cleaner but.. it's not as effective as I'd like it to be. The top side of the table gets dust build up as you work and still puts some sawdust in my lap and on the floor.. into the air etc.. I think if it had a suction hose also on the top side of the table where your saw dust blower blows the dust toward the vac pickup hose it'd help a lot more. Just not sure the little vac would have enough power to do that.. I intend to get some adapters / fittings and try to see if it'll work.. Probably something I'll mess with this summer when it's warmer out there. The vac itself is quieter than any normal shop vac I've seen / heard.. but it's still not a real quiet system.. I think a Festool vac would be much quieter.. but it also comes with a big price tag.. Over all I'm happy I bought it.. just not 100% satisfied with the results, but certainly better than nothing. I think it was about $15 on Amazon. My problem is I have 60 tubes but really only use 3 or 4 different blades. Same blades, different sizes. I guess I must be missing something. I haven't gotten into knowing all the different types of blades and their uses. I don't do fretwork or photos. I'm generally working with thicker wood. At some point I'll have to branch out and make some wall hangers.

So far I only have about 4 different species but they do come in handy for repairs.

Gives me 36 spaces to store tubes. Use all rows and you have 60 spaces. I rarely use a blade bigger than a #3. I have up to #5 and spiral also... have never used a spiral bigger than a #1 Edited February 3, 2021 by Scrappile OCtoolguy
crupiea
You guys are fancy. Putting my system to shame big time. I use old pill bottles my son had for some odd reason. Yeah right. Anyway, I use the bottles but they are only about half as tall as the blades. have a piece of 3/4 stock I cut holes in and the bottles sit in there. Works for me but I make sure not to know it over and keep it way to the side and never move it or really touch it. Knocked it over once years ago and think I am still sorting the blades. Might get some of these tubes as they look like a great idea. I think we know how this will go though. I will wait until i drunkenly knock this one over and they invest the money and time in the new system, lol kmmcrafts

Eugene Downes
I have always used a 2x4 on edge or a 1x4. I've used the 2x4 for well over 30 years. Cheap and works great. The plastic tubes are the same ones that held all the blades that came with my Scroll Saw when I bought it brand new 34 years ago.
