GREETINGS FROM WISCONSIN

Hi all! I’m new to this site and forum. Live in Wisconsin, married, kids, grandkids, retired, disabled. I’ve been into wood working ever since I took it in high school shop more years ago than I care to remember. Like a lot of people I have always had a scroll saw sitting around my shop but just never had the time or inclination to use it. Then life happened and I ended up in a wheelchair and many of my other shop tools are difficult for me to use now so one day I decide to cut something with the scroll saw and find out I like it. After that I gave my cheap saw to my kid and bought a RBI 216VS and put the wheelchair legs on the front and the rest is history, I’m hooked. Now I have more patterns on my computer than I can cut in 10 years and I am always looking for more. I like fretwork, not into intarsia, yet! Still experimenting with different blades and hope to try cutting some aluminum patterns soon. I have a program I used for cutting vinyl lettering and find it works well to modify scroll patterns. Have tried taking photos and making patterns out of them but just haven’t gotten the hang of it yet.

Hi Chkorte! Welcome to the Village. I know what you mean about collecting patterns. I stopped counting my patterns and started measuring the thickness of the stack! Collecting patterns is about as much fun as cutting them. There are so many talented designers out there. Its really cool to be in a hobby where everybody helps everybody else out. Anyway, welcome aboard! We're glad to have you. I look forward to seeing some of your work. You can set up a User Gallery to show off a little. You can find a tutorial on how to set one up here. If you have any questions, just ask. Everybody's very friendly here and will help you out. Happy scrolling!
