I had a real good craft show last fall and I decided to treat myself to a new tool. If I had the money all my tools would be “FESTOOL”

This dust extractor is the best, I had to fight with my wife for the use of it during our kitchen reno. Might get a few more attachments but so far I am quite please.

Up until two days ago, I had a Fein..   Pretty disappoint in it only lasting me 3 years 4 month had a 3 year warranty...  I appears to have a burned up motor.  I used it heavily on my scroll saw and it went on and off with the scroll saw....  Maybe that was the problem.... maybe when scrolling fretwork it should be left on and turned on and off manually.... I don't know..  It was a great vac while it lasted... My next one, I think, would be a Festool..  Not much difference in price because the Festool comes with a Hepa filter, time you buy one for the Fein, they are very close in price..

Looks cool but what is so good about it? Is it quiet, expensive? I"m curious about that and the Fein. Both are talked about but I'd kinda like a comparison. Thanks and congratulations on a nice new tool!

It is expensive and quieter than shop vac, what I like the most is you can plug your tool in the unit and as you start your scrollsaw, sanders, or any tools attached to the Festool dust extractor the unit start also and run for 3 seconds after you turn your tool off.

I am concerned about this... When doing fret work.. I never knew if was okay to have the vac turning off and on all the time.... Ever time I switched from one cut the next.... on and off went the vac.... 250 holes = 250 on/off cycles.... Maybe that is why mine did not last as long as I thought it should have.  If I get another, whether Fein or Festool... When doing fret work,,,, I will not use the on/off feature... What do you think about it? I certainly do not know, just a hunch.

i dont have a dust collecter....iv never had one.. I do have a shop vac but didnt know you could hook them up as a dust collector....I have a dewalt and i dont see any way to hook up any kind of dust collector.  I was very happy to see that the little scroll saw i got for my grandson for christmas has a place to hook up a hose from a shop vac to it so he will have some kind of protection from the dust... i'll have to see about getting him a shop vac as i dont think his parents have one.... and no i dont let my lung dr know i scroll let alone that i dont have a dust collecter!!! lol she rags on me enough now as it is lol
