ben2008
My 25 year old Jet contractor table saw just died cutting some 2" thick Sapele. I have cut 2" hardwood with it many times with no problem. Now I'm in the market for a reasonable priced, but quality table saw that will cut 2" hardwood. This one seems to fit the bill, and in my price range. I know this is the scroll saw forum but everyone seems to congregate here and I'm pretty sure a lot of us have table saws. Does anyone have this saw and what do you think of it? DEWALT (DWE7491RS) 10-Inch Table Saw, 32-1/2-Inch Rip Capacity Thanks in advance Ben Edited February 10, 2021 by ben2008
Joe W.
Yep! Got this one as a Christmas & birthday present from the kids. BREAKING NEWS: Our daughter sent us a notice that OSHA is instituting a change to these types of saws - downsizing from 10 inches to 8 (or 8 1/2") due to on site accidents. And DW will be discontinuing them - our son-in-law was wanting one and had to go to a few different places before he could find one. I checked on-line trying to find more detailed information but came up empty. Perhaps someone else can add to this. Anyway - I've use the saw only a few times since getting it, but can report I like it (and it's the one I wanted anyway, so that helps). Did my research previously and checked around opinions from neighbors and others I know and got all positive reports also. The only downside/criticism I could offer is the tabletop is a hard plastic and not metal. Not an issue to me as I will only be using it to cut wood and not using it for anything else (like a table to repair/hammer/etc. stuff one.) Hi Joe I just went to the DeWalt website and the saw appears to be still be available. There was no mention of it being discontinued. It is still in stock on Amazon, I guess I better hurry, don't want to miss out on a good saw. Thanks for the reply. Ben OCtoolguy
OzarkSawdust
I was looking at that saw minus the folding stand. I was going to build it into a rolling table. From what I read they are highly rated. But I ended up going with a Delta 36-725T2 that should be in any day now. ben2008 and OCtoolguy 1

Mine has a plastic body without all the round tube stock. I do have the folding cart like that one but a bit different. I like it alot. I was going to upgrade a while back to a contractors saw but I just couldn't afford to buy one so I searched youtube for a good video on how to "tune" this saw. After I did that and bought a good quality blade for it, I've very happy with how it saws. I also mounted a 7 1/4" blade on mine for cutting small stuff. The kerf is much narrower. It's a 40 tooth carbide blade and it also works great. Before buying a new one and laying out the big bucks, search Craigslist or FB Marketplace for a used one. I see them all the time for great prices. You won't be disappointed in this saw especially after you tune it up. ben2008

I bought that saw a couple of months ago. If you don't need a portable TS, The Dewalt 36-725 @ $600 is a much better deal. It has a mobile base and is super easy to move. I like it for what I do and it cuts 4 quarter walnut and oak very well. However, if I were constantly cutting 8 quarter hardwood I would go with 10" 3 hp TS. And if you could handle it, a 12" 5 hp would be excellent. But if $600 is your budget, you will love the 36-725 with the proper blade. Lowes is a Dewalt distributor. Good luck, Phil. ben2008
tomsteve
imo, i think looking into getting the jet fixed should be an option. i dont see how you will get the power and /or capacity of the jet on any fold up jobsite saw.
Brokentone
.Unless you need a portable saw I would repair the Jet, most parts that go bad are fairly inexpensive. Bob ben2008
FrankEV
I just purchsed that Dewalt saw on Amazon. Expecting delivery this coming Thursday. I guess you did not see my query "Which Table Saw" in Scroller Q&A just a few days ago. ben2008
CharleyL
Before you go into panic mode and spend a lot of money on a table saw, what is wrong with your Jet Contractor's saw. Maybe I can help you fix it. Can you describe the problem, and maybe post some pictures? Many times it's possible to fix old contractors table saws without spending much, or any money. Woodmaster1
I bought a 5hp Delta Unisaw 10 yrs awesome saw. Probably overkill for what you want.

Of course it's overkill. That's the best part! Great saw. I have a 1947 Unisaw.
