Popular Post Roberta Moreton Posted February 7, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted February 7, 2021 I have been working on compound cuts. I just wanted to get better and more comfortable with them. This is my latest one. The clock was cut from walnut. The shell and snail is cut from red cedar, the swan from popular. The bottom is weighted with lead. Dan, young ned, Fish and 11 others 13 1 Quote

Scrappile Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 I love compound cutting... It is fun to do the cuts and then remove the waste and see the treasure inside... Very nice work you have done.. Quote
Charlie E Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 I like all of that. Great job! Very versatile tool we use. amazingkevin 1 Quote
spirithorse Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 Very, very nice! Is the clock compound cut also or just the top of the clock? Is the clock pattern possibly in one of the old scrollers mags like Creative Woodworks and Crafts or Scrollsaw Woodworking and Crafts? Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse Quote

Roberta Moreton Posted February 7, 2021 Author Report Posted February 7, 2021 I have a hard time with compound cutting so I have been practicing. I bought a book. Compound Scroll Saw Creations by Diana Thompson. Fox Chapel Publishing. amazingkevin 1 Quote
Roberta Moreton Posted February 7, 2021 Author Report Posted February 7, 2021 Here is another piece from that book. Burning on the wing, one part is very thin. I am still practicing. Learning to go slow, let the blade do the work, etc. amazingkevin 1 Quote
young ned Posted February 7, 2021 Report Posted February 7, 2021 I struggle with compound cutting, I'm same as yourself wanting to rush every cut, I try to finish before I've started lol, really impressed by this work, and clock is something new I'd not come across before, very well done amazingkevin 1 Quote

Spirithorse This pattern called for the 1 1/2” board be split, I had two 3/4” pieces. The inside cuts on the top piece was cut then glued to the back half, then the side pattern placed on ( there were registration marks) and the compound cutting completed. amazingkevin and spirithorse 1 1 Quote
