I made this for my nephew's birthday about 10 years ago.  We visited just before the lockdown and it is still on the shelf.

PM me for the plans as I only have them on paper.  The LIAM was done by a a friend who did chip carving.

I made my grandson this when he was almost one.  It was just something that he could play with at Nana's house!!  Traced a take out container and modified it a bit.  He is turning 3 this year and it is still one of the toys that always comes out!!  You could easily add a cord to make it a pull toy!

Have ago at one of these Tony.
When I made them, I couldn't keep up with people wanting them for 1st Birthdays. The War Office was the biggest customer, whenever we had a niece or Nephew it was, " John do you have the letters to make up xxxx" ;)
The base is about 100mm long on the letter carriages, and made from 40 x 19 pine. The letters are cut from 75 x 19 pine. You don't have to have an engine pulling the carriages, I also had a truck and a Volkswagon beetle.
Painted with household acrylics.
Also a couple of "Wobblers" a dog and crocodile. I also did a cat and cow
Have fun mate.

I used to make my own mate. When I started selling the stuff and it got popular I could my self spending 24/7 in shed just making wheels so started buying them, in bulk.
The first things I made I used a hole saw, cut them out, then I would thread them on a bolt, chuck them in the drill press and sand and bevel them. 6mm dowels for axles on the small stuff and 10 mm on the slightly larger.
