bfb Posted February 21, 2021 Report Posted February 21, 2021 Just bought a Hegner Multimax 18, year 1990. I disassembled it and am giving it a good cleaning and fresh oil. I hit a glitch in trying to reattach the connector arm to the flywheel. There are two threads, one inner and the other outer. I did not notice that when I removed the connector. Anybody know which is the correct thread to use? Thank you! OCtoolguy 1 Quote
bfb Posted February 21, 2021 Author Report Posted February 21, 2021 Looks like I skipped the section in the manual that went over this. Factory default is outer thread, but for less vibration and finer work on thin stock then use the inner thread. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted February 22, 2021 Report Posted February 22, 2021 What the book said. You were too quick for me. Quote
Scrappile Posted February 22, 2021 Report Posted February 22, 2021 I do not know of anyone that uses the inner thread.... Maybe if you made very thin fragile stuff. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
nrscroller Posted February 23, 2021 Report Posted February 23, 2021 HI This is interesting, I guess I knew about that from the book, so what do you gain by channging to the inner hookup, I do a lot of 1/8 inch bb plywood stuff Bill OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Rockytime Posted February 23, 2021 Report Posted February 23, 2021 Nice to know as my Hegners, 18 and 14 inch, do no have a manual. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
rash_powder Posted February 23, 2021 Report Posted February 23, 2021 The outer hole gives a longer stroke versus a shorter stroke from the inner hole. I'v tried the inner hole to reduce vibrations before I built a new stand and it didn't really help. I'm not sure what you would need a short stroke for; maybe a new scroller would use it to slow the cutting rate. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
TAIrving Posted February 23, 2021 Report Posted February 23, 2021 The manual for Hegner scroll saws is available on the Advanced Machinery website https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1188/6562/files/Hegner_Scroll_Saw_manual.pdf?3248921969229599006 They also have parts diagrams, etc. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
