Mt. Rushmore

I have been doing landscape plaques and decided to give Mt. Rushmore a shot. I was amazed at how many views and angles there are of this monument. I tried to find one with as little shadow as possible but never did find one where I could clearly see Roosevelt's eyes. I was able to get something on the left eye but but the right was a whole other story. Stuck with the shadow. Plaque is 14.5 x 12" 1/8" BBPW on a quarter inch backer, Finish is shellac with gloss shellac. Font is Umbria. My rendering only took a few days, not 14 years like the original!

Looks great! But don't worry about leaving in shadows. Shadows can add depth to the pattern and finished work. Maybe try one with shadows to compare them.

Great job!   I'm also a fan of properly placed shadows though I'm not too good at placing them yet. It leaves something to the imagination. Before Mt. Rushmore was carved it was un"Presidented."
