Very well done.  A nice bright color under the cuts will make it outstanding.  

Not sure what the wood you used is, but it looks nice, so a natural stain to enhance the grain might be the way to go with a couple coats of Wipe-on Poly.  For everyday use it needs a good protective coating that would be easily cleaned.

Another Steve Good pattern - He has a bazillion of them and fortunately/unfortunately I like waaaay too many of them. 
I think I have the next scroll sawing year of my life coming from his website.
But seriously, it's a good starting point for me.  I think it will be a loooong time before I'm able come close to producing some of the beautiful  works I've seen by the people who are on this forum. (is there an emoji for envy?)
