wombatie Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 I love this pattern. Sorry Charlie but I thought that the wood detracted from the cutting, perhaps it's different in person. Marg Charlie E, Roberta Moreton, Rolf and 1 other 4 Quote
young ned Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 Sounds like you have created a Marmite cut Charlie, but love it or hate it, it's very well cut FrankEV and Charlie E 2 Quote
Loskoppie Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 I really must do it as we are such a dry country and it is not only beautiful but says so much here. My birds will know they are welcome to drink the water. Barbara Charlie E and amazingkevin 2 Quote

Marg Beautiful cut, but I totally agree with what wombatie said, the drastic grain coloration of Pine really distract from the cutting. Charlie E and Roberta Moreton 2 Quote
Tomanydogs Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 Beautiful portrait on a very interesting piece of wood. I like it. Charlie E 1 Quote
meflick Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 Nice work Charlie. This is a great example of how beauty is in the eye of the beholder and everyone has an opinion, and everyone will never agree on things, especially something that appeals to the eye. the thing about creating artwork, you get to create what you like and if you are happy with it, that’s all that matters. If you are selling it, some will like it, some won’t doesn’t make anyone right or wrong. flarud and Charlie E 2 Quote
Foxfold Posted March 30, 2021 Report Posted March 30, 2021 I think it's beautiful and love the wood. Great work !! Charlie E 1 Quote

I don’t care for the grain on this either. This does remind me of a Facebook thing a while back, I think it was what color do you see? FrankEV and Charlie E 1 1 Quote

"If I am a cup maker, I'm interested in making the best cup I possibly can. My effort goes into that cup, not what people think about it." I think I'm much happier with the hobby since I don't sell things and get to make what makes me happy. Happy Spring! amazingkevin and meflick 2 Quote
spirithorse Posted March 31, 2021 Report Posted March 31, 2021 Great cutting, Charlie1 I have loved that pattern since I first saw it and have not yet got around to trying to cut it. Thanks for sharing your work. I also have another Helder Botas pattern ready to cut but, my health issues have flared up and when I did try to start on it I stripped out my tension knob. eReplacements cancelled my order because the parts (tension screw and tension knob) have been discontinued.
