I like your wood choices! Great design, who's pattern? Your fit between pieces is really good not so easy considering the woods that you used.

To practice shaping I did a segmentation of a piece (in cheap pine) so I did not have to worry about fit. And then practiced shaping.

That ended up with me installing a dust collection system.

Really very nice for your 1st try.  Looks like you took all the expert advice you accumulated from being on SSV. 😄

Also looks like you took your time fitting the pieces together. I have been doing Intarsia for over 30 years and it is still quite a challenge to get all the pieces to fit nicely. I have done many of Judy Gale Robert's patterns. I have found that using the smallest blade with the most teeth works the best for me. I generally use a 2/0 blade except for very dense wood. Then I use the next smallest blade that works.  I probably go through more blades than others who would us bigger blades. However, I don't have to remake any pieces either. I just slow down and take my time and stay on the line.
