Here is neat little clock I finished about 2 months ago. I forgot to post it here. I made it from walnut and maple.I took the clock movement out to clean and vacuum it. I'll put it back together later today after I clean it.

It has a neat little pendulum bob I made.

I use1/16". 1/4". qmd 3/8" wood.

It is called the "Black Forest Clock from Wildwood on the Cherry Tree web site.

It has little critters scattered about. It is only about 18/19 inches high. I had fun making it.

I love the fret clocks but they don't seem to have many people who wants one bad enough to pay for one. Everyone is amazed by them though. i just can't quite figure that out. Maybe their popularity is going in the direction of the grandfather clocks. They just aren't what they used to be, it seems

I really don't know anything about selling these types of clocks. I make them for fun for myself, family, or friends. In fact, everything I make is for fun.

Ben that is some very beautiful work.! When you say you cleaned the movement, is it mechanical? If so where did you get it.

I have made several of John Nelson designed fretwork clocks for SSWWC. I enjoyed making them but none of that style of fretwork has ever nor will it hang in our house. Both my taste and my wife's lean more to the contemporary and modern. The ones that I did make were donated to our churches annual live auction where they did very well.

Sadly the younger generation tends not to care for the traditional beauty of pieces like this.

Hi Rolf

No, it is a quartz pendulum movement. I had it hanging in my workshop and it accumulated some dust that i didn't like, I have since moved it upstairs. I just took the movement out and vacuumed the inside and outside. It should stay a lttle cleaner up here. As I said previously, I make stuff for myself, (I like the challenge) family, and friends. Most of the time a family member or friend will notice something I made or they have seen and ask if i could make one for them. I'm a pushover. I'm planning on making 2 more fretwork clocks, then thats it. I'll stick to my Intarsia or some smaller fretwork projects.

Maybe this type of fretwork will come back around some day. Probably not in my lifetime though.

Thanks for the compliment.
