Very well done.   IMHO, 15-20 hours for over 700 holes is not slow at all.   That is about 5 or more cutting days for me as I only can cut for about 3 hours at one time or my control begins to go south.  I will interupt cutting with frame making, painting and finishing to keep my sanity.

I go through a lot of 2/0 spirals when cutting a many hole pattern like that one. Most break because I kink them while threading.

I can only scroll for four hours max. I take short breaks to rest my eyes. That means it takes me several days. The Super Pike blades also break easily and I have the same problem of bending the blades and kinking them.

Never heard of that blade... but if they break that easily,,, maybe I would find a different brand... Like you, I can only scroll for relativity short periods anymore... but that is okay,, at least I can still scroll..

The Super Pike blades are really a metal cutting blade. The 2/0 has 42 teeth per inch. I cut three milliammeter pre-finished BB without using a back up board underneath. That bottom piece would just be a waste. The blades allow me to cut very fine detail. I can also run the saw a little faster. For fretwork they are my go to blade. Blades are the cheapest part of the hobby.

Excellent scrolling. I really like that pattern. The results are beautiful.

I can only scroll about 2/3 hours anymore before my eyes start to blur. I usually just quit for the day and start again the next day. Sometimes I don't get back to it for days as I get sidetracked with something else. It eventually gets done. I really never know how long, how many holes, or blades it takes. Also, I really don't do a lot of fretwork. I'm mostly into Intarsia and there really isnt that many holes to drill. I rarely break any blades when I do Intarsia either.

I'm in awe of you folks that can sit there and drill hundreds of holes and constantly keep threading those little blades like a 2/0 through those tiny little holes. I just don't have the patience for that. But I sure like to see the finished pieces. Some are really beautiful.

I'm working on a clock right now that has many holes. But I can use a 1/16" drill bit or larger if i choose for most of the holes. That makes it's much easier for me to see and cut.
