Rockytime
I recently purchased a set of small rasps about 5 or 6 inches long about the size of pattern files. I have many small files but they are really too fine to remove wood particles. These are unbelievably coarse and are not very suitable. Of course the were real cheap and chinese. Any have a suggestion for me? OCtoolguy and FrankEV
FrankEV
For dressing up fretwork and fontwork, I found that a good set of rotary carving tools that fit the Dremel Tool are the most handy. I've tried small files, sanding sicks and more, but none fit into this tight places that need some help. The rotary carving tools come in a veriety of shapes and the very small slightly tapered bit gets into all those very small tight places. The larger cylindar shaped bit is great for straightening those long straigt or long smooth curved cuts where the saw blade may have gone a little astray. So, whatever you planned to use the rasps for, the carving bits would work better and quicker. Rockytime and OCtoolguy

JAC1961
I bought a set of 10-Piece Mini Diamond Needle File Set (6" Total Length 150 Grit Diamond File) by Kalim from Amazon last fall and really like them. Don't seem to clog and are the right coarseness for me. Also bought a set for my daughter when she started scrolling. Badgerboy
Rocky, while I am not a fan of Lowes in any way I did find this set there over a year ago and for me it is perfect. Was not expensive, you may want to check it out. OCtoolguy

I just searched "Carbide Burs for Dremel". A thousand wil come up. I bought the first one that came up. Most are al the same with a 1/8" shank. I think I just paid about $10. Probably an assortment of a dozen tiny burrs. Being old and computer deficient I'm not sure how to post a link. Probably to old to learn also. Having had a clock repair business for over 40 years I have well over a hundred files of every size and description including sets of pattern, riffler, diamond, Barrett, bastard, mill, slotting, safe edge and more. I inherited many more from a gunsmith friend. I find what works on metal does not work very well on wood for me. I use small pattern files, cosmetic nail sanding sticks, rolled up sand paper and whatnot. I use a Dremel with brass and fiber bristles, sanding mop and 3M buffs. I have micro torches which I have not used as I cut 1/8" pre-finished BB and the finish will melt. The micro burrs will arrive Thursday. I'll see how satisfied I will be. ben2008
I recently bought this from Micro Mark. It is one cool little mini power sander. It gets into a lot of places that you just can't reach by hand and saves a lot of time. I found in very useful for fretwork. Especially for the long wavy cuts you get sometimes. Check it out. It is not a toy. https://www.micromark.com/MicroLux-Micro-Sander Edited May 19, 2021 by ben2008 stoney, Dave Monk, BadBob and 1 other

Rockytime
Just got these from Amazon today. They were $5.94. They had a lot of bad reviews claiming they were not diamond, flimsy, etc. Actually I am amazed how nice they are. They are diamond and are perfect for tiny areas. They are an assorted group of 10. I'd call them a bargain. OCtoolguy and ben2008 1

So copy it and then go to this place on SSV and right click again. This time, instead of copy, hit paste. That will place the link where you want it. OCtoolguy
I went to Amazon and typed in diamond files. I found nothing in that price range.
BadBob
Search amazon for diamond needle file. Then switch the search to "low to high." Scroll down until you find one yo like. There are lots of them. OCtoolguy

I went back on Amazon and could not find it either. Found several for $6 and a bit more. Went to the reorder part on Amazon and can reorder but the price is $5.50. I don't quite get it. As with 3M stuff prices keep changing. Weird. OCtoolguy

Traded some darkroom time for my gauge after I had left the paper, but they asked me back to do a special one off job. OCtoolguy

Started in the printing industry working in a country weekly newspaper in a small town when I was 14. I'm 82 and still use it. The printing industry was good to me. I worked in news papers and eventually owned a printing and graphics plant for 30 years and now I still use the line gauge. It never leaves me.
