Popular Post Old Joe
This is the 2nd Merle Haggard cutting I’ve done. I like this better than the 1st one. I’m feeling haggard, too. Old Joe
This was 1/4 BB with a couple of coats of Natural Danish Oil, mounted on 3/4” thick pine board stained black, with a keyhole hanger slot routed on the back. Except for the larger black area towards the top, all of the cuts were done with Pegas 0 and 2/0 spiral blades.

Thanks, I really have grown almost dependent on spirals these days. Also, I stop and sand the back with 400 grit paper on a palm sander after every 20-30 cuts. I find it an easier way to deal with spiral fuzzies.

I use a sanding mop (Silverline Tools - Dome Sanding Mop - 75mm 240 Grit), I have mounted into a motor driven carving wand, every so often during a cutting for the same reasons. On a many hole pattern the fuzzies can even start to restrict the piece from sliding freely on the table. At the end of a cutting after a quick job with the mop, I will also sand the back with 220 grit on the palm sander and then finish cleaning all the little tight spots and any remaining fuzzies with a butane torch. I do almost everything with spirals also. Just finished a cut that had a bunch of long parralel curved lines with only about a 1/16" separation...a few wiggles but no cut throughs.
