Popular Post heppnerguy Posted June 6, 2021 Popular Post Report Share Posted June 6, 2021 I cut a couple of Steve Good patterns yesterday. One I did for a neighbor lady just as a little gift. Her husband has bought a couple of pieces from me for a local friend of his but nothing for her and I thought I would brighten her day a little with and easy little plaque. Her husband OKed the gift and I delivered it yesterday. Because my wife is out of state for three weeks, I decided to go to my son's house, as his wife is also out of state right now, to play chess and share a dinner and time together. My son is a big Red's baseball fan and has been since was probably 14 years old. I saw the baseball pattern that Steve Good posted the other day so I decided to cut one for him. I did not put a lot of effort into it as is was not one I would expect him to keep very long. I colorized it just so it would stand out a little better and gave it to him when I went to his house to play chess. I saw that is was an easy pattern and decided to give it a go. My son is a way better player than I am, but that does not take too much to beat me. I really do not play very often and have not worked to learn the game better, as it is not one of my priorities. putting it in perspective......I really want to learn to make wood portraits and it has been a strong want of mine for several years but I still have not taken the time to learn it well. With that said, one can't expect to learn something better if one is not willing to take the time needed to learn and practice. Thanks for the nice comment on my easy to do cutting. I love giving my work to others and hope they will like it. If they aren't excited about it, that is ok too as they didn't choose it, I did. Not everyone would want my decorative firewood like I do. I love finding a reason to give something free to someone. It makes me so happy when they obviously appreciate my thought. I also have gotten a lot of work as a result of giving a piece away. I see several of those as i travel every year from Arizona to Oregon. Also a lot of main roads that are named after old movie stars, politicians, or athletes, like in your case. Thank you for the nice compliment, It is nice not to have to feel badly when I spend too much shop time but I would give up my shop in a heart beat if my wife objected that much. No, I am the lucky one. she is a wonderful woman and we love each other a lot. Our marriage is the most important thing to us. We have been together since our high school days and both feel really blessed to still be alive, in pretty good health and still in love. All arguments, and we all have an occasional differences, are really because both individuals believe themselves to be right about a given situation or statement. The thing I like to tell myself during these times is how important is it to be right? Surely never worth any hard feelings toward one another.
