Thinking of upgrading

I currently have a Delta 40-694 20"

There is a local guy here that has a  21" Excalibur still in the box.

Would it be an upgrade, even or downgrade?

Depends on where it was made. The models made in Taiwan are good, the newer made in China not so much.

 i have an Excalibur I purchased 9 years ago from Ray at Seyco. It was made in Taiwan and works just fine. 

I agree with Wayne. Make sure it was made in Taiwan. If not....I would pass.

Upgrade if made in Taiwan. I bought mine used several years ago. Parts and support are available from Ray at Seyco

I have 2. One Canadian and one Taiwan. I would not part with either one. And I started with a Dewalt that was the forerunner to your Delta. Be careful, but if it's a Taiwan saw, go for it. If you do, check out the Pegas upgraded clamps and tension lever. Well worth the cost.
