Love the pattern and the wood. Nice job. Do you find the wood cupped? I ordered the same wood from him. Mine is cupped but is easily corrected.

Yep.. Mine is cupped. some worst than others.. I have another project that over the roughly 7" across it is, it's cupped about 1/8" in the middle..  Made for difficult cutting cause it made the wood bounce a lot.   How do you fix the cup?  I used the heat gun trick on this pattern, because humidity actually made it so  the cup side was on the pattern side, and I was able to flip it upside down and use the heat gun on the back and it flatted out for the most part.  My current project was cupped on the back and stayed that way. I don't want to use a heat gun and risk heating up the painters tape or pattern too much and make the glue lose it's tack, or make the glue seep into the wood more..  I have bunch of the wood left over and it would be great to flatten out any piece before and after any pattern is applied.

Mine is cupped about the same as yours. I lightly moistened the cupped side, laid the cupped side down and placed a thick plywood with weight on it. Flattened out in a few hours. I do love the wood.

Did you find that it cupped back at all after like a week or so?

It has not. When I first applied moisture I really soaked the cupped side. Next morning it cupped the opposite way lifting very heavy weights. I re-moistened the cup side but just barely. Placed a board on it with weights and it straightened real well. Trick I think is to only very slightly or sparingly dampen the wood. Hopefully when I do this again its not me that's all wet!

I may try it next time I use it.. see if I can flatten it before putting the pattern on.  I just glued up some quarter sawn red oak for the next project.
