Tbow388 Posted July 1, 2021 Report Posted July 1, 2021 Why the ply board for backer and insert drawer? I think a solid wood for both would have really added to it. FrankEV 1 Quote

However, 1/8" thk solid Red Oak is not available locally and 1/4" backers would have made it too heavy and they were being painted. Since I was lining it with felt, I did not feel the cost and effort to order solid 1/8" on-line was worth it. Yes, the tray would hve looked better in solid material, but again not sure it would have been worth the price and effort in as much as I already had the Red Oak solid core ply. Thank you for the query. I will consider what materials I use more closely for any future project of this type. Edited July 1, 2021 by FrankEV Quote

The morticing was not quite as neat as I would have liked, but it worked and is not tooo noticable. Quote

Jim McDonald Posted July 3, 2021 Report Posted July 3, 2021 The hinges are a great finishing touch on a great looking piece. Now that I see it, can't imagine it without the hinges. FrankEV 1 Quote
rjweb Posted July 27, 2021 Report Posted July 27, 2021 Frank where did you pick up your hinges, what size did you use, thx RJ FrankEV 1 Quote
Dak0ta52 Posted July 27, 2021 Report Posted July 27, 2021 Great job, Frank. I don't think you went wrong with the red felt however I don't think CSull is wrong thinking a blue would have worked. Fact is, the piece is so beautiful it doesn't matter what color liner was used. FrankEV 1 Quote
