Wanted to try fretwork

My wife requested I do this project as a wedding gift. I may have tackled a fairly intense project with all the fretwork but overall I feel it came out pretty darn good. This pattern, as well as the pattern from my first project, are from Steve Good.

Wow this is a thick piece.  Your script curves are smooth and the straights looks really good.

What blade(s) did you use?

Type of wood?

You did a great job.  Very nice cutting.   

Using solid wood for a sign like that is always a winner, although I would have probably chosen to use a thinner material for the cut panel, but that is only me.

I cut this with a Flying Dutchman #5 ultra reverse.

I might have selected a thinner wood for this piece but the thin material I have is very brittle and I didn't think it would hold up without chipping. Also, I liked the way the grain showed as well as the knot in the area of the little house at the bottom.

Forgot to mention I cut this from a 1x12 pine. Had it on hand and just starting out scrolling I haven't spent a lot of money on materials. I can see that will change soon. Got the bug and I'm sure I'll be sticking with the hobby. Also, seeing the pieces others have done with various woods has me drooling.
