I have a line on a fairly unused Makita scroll saw. Wondering if anyone out has any knowledge of this saw? I checked the reviews, nothing there on the saw, just a link to the manual.

Chris

I used to want one of those but they stopped selling in the USA and couldn’t find one.  I am a huge Makita fan.   I think you would enjoy it.  Its smaller and I wanted it for portable stuff.

Exactly why I'm looking at it. My P-20 is 70 pounds, the Makita is 37. I'm after one to take in the motorhome when traveling.

I only seen a couple pictures and both was of the same side.. I'm curious how the heck does one reach the lower blade holder?

Funny you mention that, I had to go back and look, apparently you need to tilt the table all the way left to get at the lower blade holder, I need to check out that Wen.

Yeah, Most these smaller saws are made by the same company and they're all the saw other than the color and the plastic covers.. I still think you're better off looking for a used old Delta with those quickset clamps. Those clamps are hard to beat.. especially if you're used to them.

Makita power tools are pretty decent but when it comes to scroll saws it's just a name on a crappy saw..

Thats what my gut is telling me, hold out for a good Delta. So I think thats what I'll do!

The Deltas can be quite heavy.  If you find a Q3 though it has those clamps on the top and bottom of that c arm.  And its a composite arm which is really cool.   I gave one to a friend and he found a bellows for it and loves it.  I do like a good C arm saw sometimes myself.  I kinda like saws in general....I wonder if those blade clamps can be reintroduced under a new manufacturer and seller since its been so long since they have been produced.

looks like the base has rubber feet and maybe there are through holes so you can put it in the basement compartment.  And if you have one slider job in your basement you can cover that with wood and bolt your toys down and sit under your awning somewhere gorgeous and warm and scroll.  Then push it back in effortlessly when your done.  That would be really neat.

There are doors on each side. You open either one if you are either left or right handed. It's a pain in the....

I just returned that scroll saw 2156-21. A disaster for me. The upper are arm would not come down far enough for me to install a blade. They basically said (after a while) I had to open something and adjust something. I said this is a  brand new machine., why do I have to tear it apart and fix it. The customer service stinks. It took about 2 weeks to get them to respond and issue a pre-paid shipping label.  I'm still waiting for my refund. FedX tracking says they got the saw back last week Wednesday 7/28/21. I purchased the saw on June 23rd. Never again will I buy a WEN product.

Sad to hear that. I had great service from them on my air cleaner.

Here is a new in box one..https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/312045027375084/?ref=saved&referral_code=null

I don't remember if this model has the lower blade holder as the quick set ll one, or the one that takes the special allen wrench thing.. The model I would look for that I know has both top and bottom blade clamps as the Quickset ll is the  Delta model SS350.. Those are good saws.. had one for a couple years..

Problem with these old Deltas is that most parts are no longer available..

The one and only WEN tool I have has served me very well for the past 10 years and I've never needed customer service.. so I guess I don't know how the customer service is.. It's a Belt / Disc sander.. I did however after about 5 years have the thing loose power.. I mean barely set a small block of wood on it and the belt would stop or almost stop.. I took it apart thinking the drive belt was bad.. once I got the covers off, the pulley fell off and dang near gave me one of those custom blue toenails, 😂  Never did find the set screw but put a new one on and been good since.. The sandpaper ran too close to the edge as well and sanded a tab completely off the belt guard that had the screws to hold the guard on.. so that also fell off one day possibly by user error? LOL.. The auto body shop skills came in handy with having a old Ford Taurus trunk lid laying in my scrap metal recycle bin repaired that buy me cutting a chunk of sheet metal off it and forming a new guard and using the Lincoln Mig welder to weld on some tabs that couldn't get hit by the sandpaper and grinding / sanding away the screws and tabs.. I think it just needed some American engineering to make it a great sander.. which it is now.. as I made it Ford Tough...😂

But, like all Fords, it probably runs hot! Lol.
