Cherry Tree

I just got a delivery from Cherry Tree with a few patterns I ordered. These are very large patterns. They were folded in half, then folded again and jammed in a little box about 8" X 5" . These patterns are all wrinkled up some quite badly.  Is there a way to straighten these up and get rid of the wrinkles? I will be sending an  email to Cherry Tree letting them know what I think about their packaging.

I'd send them back.

I'd send them back. If you just have to have the patterns, see if there is an art business nearby with a vacuum press. Or, lay the pattern out on a flat surface use kraft paper to protect the pattern, then a sheet of plywood, then weights on the plywood, let set for a couple of days then check.

That's nice, but they don't have the patterns I want.

They will never know how unhappy you are until you tell them. You know the old saying, "a happy customer tells their friends. An unhappy customer tells everybody". Believe me, it's true.

I just sent them an email to let them know what I thought of their packaging. I waited until today so I would cool off a bit. I don't like to send emails when I'm upset. Not all of the plans I bought have problems. The smaller one's are OK. It's just the large Wildwood plans that is the issue. Some were folded 4 times then jammed in a very small box causing a lot of creases and wrinkles. That is just not acceptable and I told them that.

The patterns I bought from Cherry Tree are Wildwood designs. Cherry tree and Wildwood merged many years ago and the only place to get the Wildwood designs is Cherry Tree.

It's either send them back or attempt to iron them flat as Roberta suggested above. (Thanks Roberta) After reading that, my wife said she remembers doing that in Home Ec. too.

They need to understand how unhappy you are. Maybe if they start hearing from some of us to say that we will not be buying from them because of how you were treated, they might rethink their how they service their customers. I'm going to email them right now.

I tried to contact them on Friday to let them know how disappointed I was with their packaging. I may hear from them on Monday. I'll let you and others know what they said.

You have to go to this page and use their mode of communication. They do not have a actual email address that i could find.

I wrote to them and expressed my disappointment in how you have been treated. I hope they take it to heart.

How about taking your phone and give them a call! I would thank that in your situation, taking with a live person will get a much better response than waiting for a reply, that most likely will not happen, over the internet!  Just my 2 cents worth!

I agree with you. But unfortunately, I am hard of hearing on the phone. Not sure why that is. However, I'll wait another day or 2 then try and give them a call.

Cherry Tree encourages you to contact them using their contact page if you have any problems. I did, and no response. I just think they have lousy customer service. This is not my first go around with these folks. I'm done with them after this fiasco.

There are many other places to get patterns besides Cherry Tree and with good customer service and they actually reply. The Art Factory and Wooden Teddy Bear are just 2 that have good customer service. I'm sure there are others.

Cherry tree does not accept returns of patterns or plans.

Hmm, Being an online business myself and primarily communicate through emails / messages. I will say Mondays are a crap show.. because you have all your orders to package up from the weekend because no package deliveries on the weekends. That said I do try to reply to every email and I almost always check them and reply by the importance.. something like this.. a existing customer issue is my top priority rather than the new customer asking if I can make something custom etc. or those that seem to not read my item description and ask dumb questions that is already in the description such as size or wood types etc.. get a lot of that and it's really annoying but also is a part of being a business and dealing with customers.

IMO, they should have or at least I would have made sure to message back Sunday night / Monday on a issue like this.. A good customer service is considered by etsy and amazon as replying to messages within 24 hour period.

If I were a pattern seller mailing out physical patterns. I'd roll them up and send in a tube. Also would roll them in a way so they'd lay out flat on a surface and not try to coil up on you when you try to scan / copy them..

We also sell online and the weekends can be a problem.  Even though we are closed on Sunday and Monday, I go into ArtCrafters and fill any orders and reply to any emails.  It is only good customer service.  If there is an unhappy customer, I try to solve the problem quickly.

Good morning friends, I just want to touch base on a thread that has been circulating regarding our packaging and shipping. We take great pride in our products and how they are shipped out to our customers. We also strive on good customer service. No we may not be able to satisfy everyone but we do our best. Our plans that are 11x17 are folded in half and our D patterns are folded down to 8 1/2 x 11. And then depending  on what else is in your order is how we determine how that will get shipped out. So in this case with ben2008 he also ordered a clock insert therefor we can not ship it in an envelope. His entire order went into a 9 x 6 box with air cushions in there. And he also choose 1st class shipping so we are limited on the size of box that we can ship stuff in. As far as the above statement from octoolguy and ben2008. Yes we do care and my apologies we do get hundreds of emails daily and sometimes do not get to get through them all in a timely manner. Everyone have a great day.

Good morning Benny, We have received your email. I am sorry for the delay in a response but we receive hundreds of emails on a daily basics from customers, vendors, carving and scroll saw groups, etc. so sometimes it takes a bit to scan through all the emails. I checked with the shipping department and with the owner. Our plans have always been folded and will always be folded. We fold 11x17 in half and all D patterns are folded to 8 1/2 x 11.Your order would have went into a 9x6 box because you choose 1st class mail.  So yes 1 of your plans may of been folded 4 times. We have never and will never roll our plans and patterns and ship in a tube. Tubes get damaged way too easily in shipping and with 1st class mail the postal service does not cover any of that. If you choose Priority mail the box is at least a little bigger and if damage does occur the postal service will cover up to $50.00.  You have ordered numerous patterns from us and not once have we ever received a claimant from you. All complaints are documented and logged.

Tammy

That's not true Tammy. I gave you a negative review on one of your clock patterns earlier this year but you never posted it.

Looks like I'm stuck with these. I'll see if I can use an iron and flatten them somewhat. I have never had any problems with any other pattern suppliers. JGR puts her patterns in heavy duty tubes. The Art Factory breaks up the pattern into manageable pieces with sometimes 6/7 pages instead of folding them 4 times with multiple large creases. Others package their patterns in a envelope with heavy duty cardboard or in large box. Lesson learned
