It is very nice.  the aspen was a good clean white and gives a great illusion of top of the cubes.

How big is the box?

How thick is the aspen and other wood?

The triangles are about 1/4"   thick.  I glued them to 1/4" mahogany. The box measures about 5 1/4" x 8 1/2' X 2 1/2"

Dave your box looks great and I like the way you framed out the lid. I made one a few years back for my granddaughter using the tumbling block pattern and I have to agree about how accurate the pieces need to be. Keeping track of the grain direction can be a challenge also. If one piece is off it just pushes the rest out of place.

As I recall I cut my pieces on a table saw and built a jig to true them up on my disc sander. It is time consuming but like your box the results are great.

I do and enjoy making boxes occasionally.   Is that box a readiy pattern somewhere?

I saw a box similar on Pinterest that inspired me to make this pattern. The sides I used 1/2" wood and dadoed  them to set the top an bottom into. I have lots of boxes on my FB page.

Oh wow Dave. Your boxes belong in a jewelry store or something. At the same time this one reminds me of the old video game Q-bert. Like Frank, I wondered if this is from an available pattern. Wouldn't be surprised if you designed it though. :)

Thanks for the compliments. I attached the pattern to one of the comments.
