Popular Post Dave Monk
I used Mahogany, Walnut, and Aspen. Used my scroll saw to make the top pieces. I had to make the pieces pretty accurate for it to come out good. I was afraid to make them on my table saw because they were so small. Tom-in-Ashland
Great job. The top really looks 3D - wonder how many might reach out to touch it to find out. Dave Monk

Dak0ta52
Beautiful piece. I don't think I could get that accurate of cuts even with the table saw. You nailed it!!! Dave Monk

preprius
It is very nice. the aspen was a good clean white and gives a great illusion of top of the cubes. How big is the box? How thick is the aspen and other wood? Dave Monk

Charlie E
Oh wow Dave. Your boxes belong in a jewelry store or something. At the same time this one reminds me of the old video game Q-bert. Like Frank, I wondered if this is from an available pattern. Wouldn't be surprised if you designed it though. Be_O_Be
Dave your box looks great and I like the way you framed out the lid. I made one a few years back for my granddaughter using the tumbling block pattern and I have to agree about how accurate the pieces need to be. Keeping track of the grain direction can be a challenge also. If one piece is off it just pushes the rest out of place. As I recall I cut my pieces on a table saw and built a jig to true them up on my disc sander. It is time consuming but like your box the results are great. I saw a box similar on Pinterest that inspired me to make this pattern. The sides I used 1/2" wood and dadoed them to set the top an bottom into. I have lots of boxes on my FB page. 3D Inlay Box.pdf FrankEV
