FrankEV Posted September 25, 2021 Report Posted September 25, 2021 (edited) NIce work on the Cat. The oversized oval backer is just great. The Birds, as always, just magnificent. The piece of wood you chose really captures the moon effect. My lady made me hang the version of the Birds, I made quite awhile ago, in our living room. I think she likes that one the best of all I have made for her. Edited September 25, 2021 by FrankEV Foxfold 1 Quote

The birds I must admit are always enjoyed, simple but sweet. Edited September 25, 2021 by Foxfold FrankEV 1 Quote
OzarkSawdust Posted September 25, 2021 Report Posted September 25, 2021 Awesome job Brenda! Both are really nice. I'll bet I could sell those at my upcoming shows, where did the patterns come from? Foxfold 1 Quote

The Tiger is an H.Botas pattern, the birds are just a vector graphic that I found a couple of years ago and it cut really nice so I kept it. I just cut the dark bits. Scrappile and danny 2 Quote

I just cut the dark bits. Here is my weak spot... I can scroll, but I can't always look at a picture and see a pattern.. To me that is the major difference between me, have a pattern, cut out the black, save the white, I can do that pretty good and You, see a picture,,, as an artist, and make it work for a great picture.. Awesome!! Edited September 26, 2021 by Scrappile Foxfold 1 Quote
flarud Posted September 27, 2021 Report Posted September 27, 2021 Wow! Both are really cool. But now I'm confused after reading your response to Frank... is there a bigger oval stained backer behind the cat or not? Foxfold 1 Quote

Behind the cat is some black card. The cat is glued to the card. Then there's the 'oval' cut out of b/b and stained dark brown and glued to the cat. Here's a smaller piece made the same way but not yet put together that may help 'show' what I've done. heppnerguy 1 Quote
Charlie E Posted September 27, 2021 Report Posted September 27, 2021 Very nice job on both! I like anything with birds. And the oval is perfect for the cat. Lots of Auburn Tiger fans around here would love that. Foxfold 1 Quote

If you are OK with that, please let me know, otherwise I will not take the liberty to copy your work on my own Dick heppnerguy Quote

Foxfold Posted September 29, 2021 Author Report Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) @flarud. Once the cat is glued to the 'card' I cut around the piece so it's all flush. Then the oval is glued to the cat. I then put a couple or three coats of clear spray varnish which helps strengthen it and Voila !!! Sometimes, more so on the 'small' pieces, I don't want a wood backer as it makes it too clunky for me. Don't know of anyone else that does this but it saves me a fortune in 'backers' as the card is quite cheap from the stationers. Edited September 29, 2021 by Foxfold Quote
