savethebeer
Hello Eric. I have to admit that I like reading paper books, and I've never been tempted to try a kindle. Thats for thrillers or history etc. For scrolling I don't think you can get much better than Travis and his university from right here in the village. Steve Good at scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com is also excellent. Youtube is also a good source. If you did want to go down the road of getting books then shop for anything by Patrick Spielman to start with. Popular Post OCtoolguy
I bought many books. But....the best thing you can do is first, hang out here and ask questions. Second download some practice patterns and practice, practice and practice some more. A large part of scrolling is developing "muscle memory". That just takes time. And practice. munzieb, RabidAlien, Rolf and 7 others
lawson56
I agree with Ray. I had bought some books and Mags, in the past, but it was just cutting patterns and finding The Village that helped me the most. Practice. Dan
I've done a lot of different types of scrolled work: fretwork, portraits, intarsia, segmentation, compound cuts, etc. I learn from each of these. I have bought books mainly for the patterns. Some have great tutorials, others...not so much. Ask questions and try many different types of work. new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy 1
GrampaJim
This one helped me the most when I started out scrolling: https://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/scroll-saw-workbook-3rd-edition.html OCtoolguy

BadBob
Patrick Spielman's books are cheap used as are many other scroll saw books. eBay and Amazon are good places to look for them. OCtoolguy
Rolf
I don't know where you live, but do a search for a local club or others that scroll. I have a lot of books and also our local library. I used them mostly for ideas on what I might like to make. Watching my (now) friends in the the club really shortened my learning curve. We have members with over 60 years of experience. As the others have said practice is what it takes. Fish
If you like cutting crosses author Marcus Clemens has them on Amazon. He has several others as well. I have five of his books. They weren’t very expensive. $12 maybe I forget. Jim Blume

Eric I would look for scroll saw books by Patrick Spielman. When I started scrolling, his books are what I turned to. Here is a link to titles; Amazon may have some of them. The second link is the book I bought when I first started and it is good but likely outdated: https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/84053.Patrick_Spielman https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0806972246/ref=x_gr_w_bb_sout?ie=UTF8&tag=x_gr_w_bb_sout-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0806972246&SubscriptionId=1MGPYB6YW3HWK55XCGG2 Edited October 15, 2021 by old sarge OCtoolguy

Norm Fengstad
I have numerous books someone already mentioned old used Patrick Spielman books You can't go wrong with them. It was also mentioned to practice, practice and practice 10,000 hours is not to much practice time. Remember first you get good then you can get fast. I been scroll sawing 20 plus years and soon as I speed things up compost always happens OCtoolguy
