Planet Of The Apes

So I've been a fan of Planet Of The Apes movies since I was a child. In 2014 my son, Chris, told me they were making a new series which preceded the original story line. There are 3 movies in the new series and I love all 3 as does my son. This is Caesar from the new movies and his son Cornelius who is the main ape character in the ones I grew up watching. I hid mine and my son's initials in the portrait. (both CKE) One is in Caesar and one in Cornelius. The shape in the lower right is a symbol from the movie.  I'm keeping this one for now but it will eventually be my son's.  About 9" X 11" in 1/2" red oak.

Now if it were mine,, I would put that red stripe down the forehead and nose, red in the backer...  You did a a great job.... this your pattern?  I too liked the movies... can not remember if I saw them all..  Sent you an message.  Think I found the CKE, but did not want to give it away..

If I had that cutting hanging in my house, I know I would be asked if it was a self portrait.

Okay,,, I have a confession,, and please do not hold it against me.... I think after the first movie,,, I had kind of a crush on a female ape...  I know,, I know,,, but with counseling,, I got better......  well a little...

Thank you very much Paul! I did cut the suggestion of the red stripe and really struggled with whether to stain it red, as well as staining their eyes green, a sign of their intelligence in the movie. I decided against it, at least for now. I worked on it for so long I'm terrified of ruining it. I see how I want it in my mind but I'm afraid it won't turn out that way.

Oh, and it is my pattern more or less. I started  with this image I came up with after running a picture I found online through a pencil sketch generator. I kept a pencil by the saw and shaded in what I wanted to cut as I went. If anyone wants to use my cutting to make a pattern I have no problem with it.
