planeur
Is that guide exist like on a tablesaw, to cut a piece straight or with an angle ? I am figuring to make one in wood. Any ideas ? Thanks planeur OCtoolguy
OCtoolguy
I recently posted something like that but everybody said they just learned to cut straight with practice. A fence or miter gauge type thing really isn't a necessity on a scroll saw. Dan
I agree with Ray. Easier to learn to cut straight. danny and OCtoolguy
planeur
Yes I know that , but I want to cut very small pieces, to small for the tablesaw, and I want the most precision as possible! Cutting by following a line is ok for me , but I need precision at the .002/3 " and very straight as on the tablesaw. I did that to make some tests, not yet finish planeur OCtoolguy

It will always want to wander. danny
Wichman
Just use a straight piece of 1 x 2 clamped to the table, adjust until the fence is the distance you want from the blade, and use a spiral blade. If you feed the piece at an angle to the table (not 90 degrees but say 15 degrees so that the piece being cut bypasses the arm of the saw) you can have unlimited length of cut. jerry1939
I quit sawing 2 years ago, but learned this: Cut oversize and sand it straight. It will make your life a lot easier. kmmcrafts
Looks like a job for the bandsaw to me, LOL.. Or as Jerry said.. cut slightly oversized and sand to the size you need.. Scrappile and OCtoolguy
planeur
So if I understand well the spiral blade does not deviate as the regular blade , and give a better straight cut ? Just buy recently those blades , but did not yet cut so much pieces. Thanks Wichman I will try it. And Jerry I did your tip cutting oversize and sanding after, and I will try it on my future cutting. To small pieces for the bandsaw as for tablesaw. Well, thanks everyone Will come back with my tries! planeur Edited October 15, 2021 by planeur OCtoolguy
Norm Fengstad
I never used a fence but have used spirals but I find straight blades do a better job for me. Seems to me bottom side tear out is a bigger problem with spirals. danny and Jim Blume

But none of my saws have tables that would accept something like it. I posted the idea and the link to the article here for others that might want to do it. It was not well received for the reasons stated above. I understand what you are wanting to do and I think a straight edge with 2 clamps is the answer. At one time I was looking to make a circle cutting jig for my saw to make coasters. I decided that the scrollsaw is just not the tool for that job.
