Popular Post Eric67
Hello Everyone, As you know I am a beginner but I am showing my latest work so that you can give me your advice to improve myself. The bells are for (maybe) the Christmas tree. it's plywood. The three circles are just an exercise. I used apple wood for this. Thank you soo much. don watson
Excellent start to your scroll saw journey. The bells are very well done and will adorn any Christmas tree. The apple wood circles would work as trivets. Looks a great start to your scroll sawing career. You should be very proud. Eric67
Thanks Don for your answer, but to use the circles as a trivet, they are too small, the diameter is only 2.165 inch. (5,5cm) Eric. don watson

(5,5cm) Eric. Lookin good! Much better than my early attempts! Use the applewood circles as coffee coasters! don watson and ChelCass
FrankEV
The Bells are well cut. I see some rough edges that could use some sanding. Also, not sure if the bells were sanded nice and smooth before painting. The paint looks rough unless that is a textured paint. Some additional light sanding and finishing with lacquer or poly might help. If the bells are cut from some big box store thin plywood, you should look into getting some BB Ply on-line. It will finish better. The little circle's are very well cut. You could call them "Coasters" instead of "Trivets". don watson

Hi Frank, I totally agree with you on the quality of the wood and the paint. it is not very good, I will try to improve it. concerning the coasters or the trivets, I understood the message. But I love theyr Whisky so i don't want to get angry with them. Eric FrankEV and don watson 1
Dak0ta52
Nice job, especially for a new scroller. I really like the coasters/trivets. That thicker wood can sometimes be trying! But then, thin wood can also be difficult when trying to prevent break out. don watson
Charlie E
I think you're headed in the right direction. You're wise to seek advice but the best advice in the world won't replace time spent sawing. Don't know if you're using a magnifying light but it was night and day for me when I got one. I want to upgrade but I've been using a $39.95 Harbor Freight model for several years. I was amazed what a difference actually seeing the line clearly made. don watson
Eric67
Hello Everybody, Thank you for your answers For Charlie E, fortunatly, I don't need a magnifying glass, (not yet) but this idea is good, I keep it. don watson
wombatie
I think they look terrific. You are certainly do very well. They are good ones to keep so that in 10 years time you can look at them and see how far you have come. Better wood and plenty of practice will always make you better.
