timelett
I have a puzzle pattern to cut, and a state map I want to attach to the finished pattern. I was thinking about how to best do it. Cut pattern and attach picture to the cut out, or is their a better option possibly attach the picture to wood, spray something to protect picture then use masking tape over picture and attach puzzle pattern to the masking tape. William Eicehelberger
There is several good videos showing how to make picture puzzles . Steve Good has a good one . They can do a lot better job of teaching than I . IKE
don in brooklin on
Steve Good has an article at https://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/2017_10_11_archive.html That is how I have always done it but it assumes a square pattern. There are lots of videos that show cutting freehand. Here is one about the locks.https://youtu.be/lfxJ_eKGqvI

Dan
I always glue the pattern to the wood first with Aleens tacky glue. Use a J roller to get rid of any bubbles. I let it sit overnight to make sure the glue is well cured. I then apply two coats of Krylon Triple Thick Glaze. Allow it to cure 24 hours. Then, I cut freehand. You can put a puzzle outline over your pattern like Steve Good does, but I find it unnecessary. Good luck! timelett
Thanks Dan,but not experienced yet to free hand, this puzzle will have large pieces. It's for a young family member with trouble concentrating, that free hand cutting looks like fun tho.
