Hello Everyone,
In eight weeks ,we'll be at Christmas, I tried my first assemblage about the subject.
As usual,I await your advice.
The pattern come from Steve GOOD, thanks to him.

Hi Rodney, 
it's the problem for me, paint or stain ? that is the question.
I like the raw wood but in this case, it seems the stain is appropriate, maybe clear oak or colorless stain but no paint.

(I hope you understood my English language)

A natural stain will richen the natural wood color, or just use  a clear lacquer or poly coating.  A clear coating will just brighten the wood a little.

Very nice Eric.
I like a little colour, but in this case I think a couple of coats of clear would make it pop.
If you decide to use a stain, make sure that it is sanded really well with no scratches as stain will show up every little fault.

That is lovely.  I would make two, one colored and one clear coated.  I am a Libra, can never make up my mind.

I made that one years ago for my niece.  I used a darker stain on it.  Not sure that I have a picture of it!

Fantastic job!!!! Two types of stain would look fantastic. no paint I agree with ya on that.

Steve Good used to use lemon oil on a lot of his first patterns. He just dipped them in the oil and dried them off. It brings out the color of the wood really well and it is so easy to do. This method does not really put an long lasting result, as the oil eventually dissipates, but it can be redone about anytime it is needed. Just a thought.
